Hi!

Im running a dedicated server on a 100/100 cable. Is there any tweaks you can do to make the server run smoother?

actually i dont think you can set the server above 35 tickrate. if you join a server and bring stat net up (F6) and look at incoming packets. thats the servers tickrate.

i think they set 35 to max when 2.7 or 2.8 came out.

anyway 35 tickrate is enough in internet ut based servers. ut doesnt handle ticks the ssame as CS.

that framerate thing is it really working? i thought it was only a client side variabel.

but anyway its nice that someone knows how important tickrate is. hate playing in 20 tick public servers. impossibel to get bullet registrations :/

maybe if you set the server to lan mode you can go above 35? i will do some testing tonight and see if thats possibel. this 35 tickrate max thing wasnt there before. i remember a european hosting company that was offering 40 tickrate servers.

Nice to see you doing testing. I think most people just assume that a higher tickrate will result in a better server without giving it any thought.

madd, how does netspeed work? I'm curious to know how increasing it by one would make any noticable difference.

It allows you to get frames higher than the capped 85 client side and server side

I already do...

the lan mode does not remove the tickrate limit. :(

i just viewed some online UT tournaments and they all have a recuirement of ~35 tickrate. some leagues demand the server to be set at 35 no more, no less. so setting it to 100 wont make a diffrens to setting it to 35. but going from 30 to 35 will make a big diffrence.

i have to try that netspeed thing out. really good if it still works in this version.

See that's strange, because when I type GetCurrentTickRate or GetMaxTickRate (type exactly as seen here) I get the setting of the server.

Granted the current tick rate fluxs a bit but that's understandable with the amount of people in the server and how long its been since it restarted.

i think those console commands shows the fps not the tickrate. but im not sure. i know my server is set to 35 and when i use those 2 commands i get 90 and 84.

but at some extent fps and tickrate is the same. tickrate is kinda like the servers fps. maybe those 2 commands shows your current client settings just not the servers?
