America's Army: Copy & Pasting Server IPs in Game

By: Matt Wuthrich - Published May 03, 2007 at 6:44 AM EDT - Writer Archive
A quick how-to on copying server IP address's from IRC or ventrilo comments
I'm sure some players out there have tried other games and wondering why they are so easy to use and play. Everything seems to be thought of when it comes to competitive play, clients are done and scripts are pre-made for most other games, it's even easy to find a scrim and just copy it into the games console provided you know the correct connect command. Well things just got a whole lot easier for AA players in the form of a little known server browser function that has most likely been around for ages.

NOTE: It is important to remember to have the game servers port in the connect line, otherwise it may give you a password error, or not connect at all, the default port for America's Army is 1716.
8.9.17.66:1716?password=scrimus
ip:port?password=scrimus
First have your IP address in the proper format copied and read to be pasted. Once you have done this navigate yourself to the server browser and right click somewhere in the window so that you can see a small drop and of two options and select open IP. By pressing ctrl+v you will be able to paste the IP you have copied into the open space.

Why would you want to do this you ask? Convenience, it's far easier for the player finding the scrim to put the information in their ventrilo comment, or send to others via IRC/MSN/Other than read it out for each person while they have their game open typing.
