The following is the second press release concerning the placement tournament, a break down of the cash amounts for different places, and why aa was even picked up. The CEVO America's Army Professional Placement Tournament registration deadline has been extended to next Friday, June 29, 2007, at 8:00pm CT. Any team wishing to be invited to the placement tournament has until this date to create a team in the Amateur division, get a minimum of four players signed up and fully paid, and email mwuthrich@cevo.com with your team name as the subject, requesting to be included. We have decided upon the three teams granted auto-berths for the initial season of CEVO-P. These teams are well-known in the competitive America's Army community and have proven to be high caliber teams: 1. just Cause project 2. overRated 3. Slow Reaction In addition to these three auto-berths, eight teams have successfully registered to participate in the CEVO-P Placement Tournament. After reviewing each individual team's competition history, we have decided to allow these teams into the tournament: 1. 2n Gaming 2. Audigy 3. IceNine Gaming 4. Instruments of God 5. Mediocrity 6. Redemption 7. Team 10th 8. Volatilis Infensus Modified to teams that have requested births via email List is more recent than press release Since the CEVO America's Army Pro Placement Tournament will be a 16-team double-elimination bracket, we are allowing eight additional teams to signup to play in this tournament. The eight additional teams that signup will be combined to the existing list of teams to create a total of 16 teams who will compete to be one of the nine teams allowed into CEVO-P (6 from the placement tournament, 3 from auto-berths). Tournament seeds will be released once the teams have been finalized Friday at 8pm central. Once again, by Friday June 29th, any team wishing to participate in the placement tournament should create a team in Amateur and get a minimum of four players paid and ready on their rosters, then email mwuthrich@cevo.com to indicate your desire to play in the tournament. The numbers I've hacked together based on the percentage in the recently release America's Army rule set. This is by no means a final CEVO release, simply something anyone with half a brain and put together. Partially this is to help the teams who are on the fence about divisions, and partially to help the lower teams make a decision if they will be playing CEVO at all. CEVO Professional Payouts 1st Place - 50% ($1,250) 2nd Place - 35% ($875) 3rd Place - 15% ($375) CEVO Amateur Payouts 1st Place - 40% ($600) 2nd Place - 25% ($375) 3rd Place - 15% ($225) 4th Place - 15% ($225) 5th Place - 5% ($75) ViRii asks: Just curious, the community isn’t too large, so why choose America’s Army over some other games like Battlefield 2142, Command & Conquer 3? Plitt says: CEVO is constantly looking at all the games out there as well as their respective communities. At this time, we are actively considering events for at least seven different games in addition to the four games we are currently hosting events for. But launching a new event is not always a simple task. When CEVO gets into a new game, it’s important that we release a quality product and environment. We want to run a strong, competitive events that create enjoyment, and serve to advance the industry of eSports. With that in mind, it’s not enough to simply choose a game and go with it. There are many factors to consider when moving into a new game: - size of the community - popularity trends - competitive aspects - spectator aspects - the game itself - sponsor interest - event staffing So why America’s Army? The timing was perfect. We were able to contact some amazing individuals to come on staff, and we already had an interested sponsor in NationVoice. The community may not be as large as some of the other games currenty running, but we feel it’s large enough to support an event. And with the US Army renewing its efforts to promote America’s Army, we feel there is plenty of room for its community to grow and we’re excited to be a part of it! |
