The CyberAthlete Professional League has announced the largest LAN cash payout to date for America's Army, and the return to Counter Strike Source as their two $10k games. Last Night, the 12th of June 2007 the CPL and CAL announced the largest LAN tournament in America's Army history. When the plan to host a BYOC event for the game was first announced June 23rd the community was curious and confused at the chosen dates. What was initial curiosity has turned into outright surprise, as the dollar amount sky rocked to an astounding ten thousand in cash and prizes. The prospect of a LAN for America's Army bring up a number of possibility's for previously banned players, the chance to clear their name and make the same shots and calls they do online, or the chance to dodge and keep their reputation until the next LAN. Either way, should be money be guaranteed in some form, ten thousand is exactly the amount to send teams to their cars to making the trip. The CPL will be running a bring your own computer style event for two games, or BYOC, at their summer Dallas stop, the ever popular Counter Strike Source, and America's Army. The summer of 07 is the largest boom America's Army competition has had in five years, partially due to the game having the largest non-corporate sponsorship in history, the United States Army.
