America's Army: CEVO Pro America's Army Week 3

By: Matt Wuthrich - Published August 27, 2007 at 10:15 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Week 3 is on Insurgent Camp, a fast paced dual objective map that has always been a favorite. Both jCp and c3 are in the lead holding 2-0 records, while sR, i9, red, oR are 1-1 and both IoG and med! are winless.

Insurgent Camp has always been a favorite, as one of the most thrilling and strategy filled maps in AA, it has been around since TWL season one. Teams have the option of pushing one of two objectives, and are not forced into taking a whole list of objectives to secure a round. This forces the defense team to push back to and create some pressure throughout the round if they want to win.

Because teams have the habit of housing large rosters in America's Army, we have decided to take a look at the past two weeks line ups, and found all eight active rosters are getting smaller for the first time in the games history. Five of the teams have decided to stick with just five starters so far, and with two of those teams it's the favored way to go about things. Three teams on the other hand have used six different players through the season.

The same roster that plans to attend the CPL event next week has been playing CEVO for jCp all season, they have their practice and chemistry together in that's for sure. With over a year of experience together between RaF and Ruin, and more than four years with sTan and sE`nO.mOR added in, they aren't new to each other. The team is sitting pretty at 2-0 in the standings and is only competition in the AGC and CEVO for their online practice. The new kids on the block are the result of a 10th and Aftermath merger. The impact players are without a doubt Chronik and Dillon from the respective past teams, both have been known to hold their team up when they need to, and are without a doubt the players to watch out for.

Which leaves us at the beginning of week three. A determined Slow Reaction (1-1) takes on an immensely weak Instruments of God (0-2) The match is tentatively schedules for this Wednesday at 9:00pm CST and hopefully either hilikus or insane will have a score bot up for this fast paced map. Players to watch will be killa and insane. The next match this week is Cover 3 put up against IceNine Gaming. I expect chronik and cHc to come up big in this and really pull one over i9 early on, and it doesn't matter which side c3 starts. Of course banana with the SAW will mean problems for c3, should he get in the building, but I don't think cHc will let that happen to often.

Now two 1-1 teams go at it, Redemption vs overRated will be an interesting match with Mechy out of the picture for Redemption. Although I am confident that due to the map's nature of being hard to control once someone is inside the building, that players like Rabb and Solidus will be able to take a few objectives on oR, but with a possible scarface or krayzieguy on the 203 things done look good for red in the long run.

I'm going to go ahead and predict this one as match of the week. Both teams are attending the CPL event this weekend and both practice like hell when it comes down to crunch time. With Mediocrity up against the wall with a 0-2 record at the beginning of the season, and a win against sR in the CAL tournament finals on this same map, I'm not going to count them out of this one.
