America's Army: jCp vs red in CEVO Professional Semi Final

Just Cause Project faces Redemption this coming weekend to determine who will go to the finals and face overRated
Heading into the playoffs were 4 elite AA teams. Redemption, Slow Reaction, overRated & Just Cause Project. CEVO decided the best format would be a double elimination playoff. Once it is down to 2 teams, the final winner will be decided in a best of 3. Each team will pick 1 map from the list of season maps, with the 3rd map being chosen by CEVO to be played if the 2 teams split wins on the first 2 maps.

Round 1 - Urban Assault

Match-up #1: Just Cause Project vs Slow Reaction.

During the season jCp's 1 and only loss came against the very same Slow Reaction squad. In week 5 Slow Reaction beat jCp by a score of 9-5 on Pipeline. Although this was an upset, it wasn't a huge surprise as this is one of sR's stronger maps and one of jCp's weaker ones. Coming into this playoff match jCp had a score to settle with sR evidently as they showed they are clearly the better team on Urban with a convincing 11-1-2 win. Just Cause Project showed that they have better strats and teamwork on this map which lead to the lopsided win, stan lead the way in numbers with a 14-2 K-D ratio. By winning this match jCp moved into the winners bracket and sR moved into the losers bracket.

Match-up #2: overRated vs Redemption.

This was considered the feature match for CEVO Pro in week 1. During the season overRated only suffered 1 loss, and it was on the very same map, Urban Assault. Redemption on the other hand is pretty solid on Urban, perhaps not as much as a couple of other maps, but still one of their better ones. In week 3, these teams faced off on Insurgent Camp, and Redemption probably surprised overRated as they took them to overtime. As IC is one of overRated top 2 maps, this result definitely showed that Redemption can hang with them when the put the effort into it.

With all these factors, this playoff match had potential for an upset. oR started on west and took an early 3-0 lead, then both teams turned passive and it went to 3-1-3 in favor of oR. Redemption got more aggressive after switching sides and went on a 3-0-2 streak to take a 4-3-5 lead. overRated tied it up, and in the last round things fell apart in the dieing seconds for red causing them to lose the round with 3 seconds left. overRated came out on top 5-4-5, must have been a nerve-racking match for both sides!

Round 2 - Weapons Cache

Match-up #1 - Slow Reaction vs Redemption

After dropping their matches in round 1, these 2 teams faced off in the losers bracket, with the losing team getting 4th place and out of the money. Redemption came out on top in the match-up between these 2 teams in week 4 on Urban in a close 8-6 battle. Redemption were slight favorites heading in considering they beat sR in the first match-up and had a very close result against overRated in the first playoff match. Red started on assault and got their first advantage in round 3, but becker pulled off a 1v4 clutch ace. Red finally managed to break sR's defense a couple of rounds and went into the half down 5-2. Redemption was only broken once on defense, giving them 6 out of 7 rounds and the 8-6 victory. This loss for sR knocked them out of the competition, with Redemption living to see another day and face the loser of the oR vs jCp match in round #3.

Match-up #2 - overRated vs Just Cause Project

With both teams only suffering 1 loss each in CEVO Pro this season, this was definitely considered MOTW heading in. To recap the season meeting, jCp won convincing 12-2 on Urban, which is a map that they are clearly better than oR is, at least up to this point. Weapons Cache is a much better map for oR, so they were looking to redeem themselves. jCp didn't have seno or Raf available for this match, so collins (their outdoor monster) filled in. overRated came out strong on assault and took 4 rounds out of 7, which is really quite surprising due to the defensive sided nature of the map. overRated dominated on defense as expected and swept the rounds, leading to an 11-3 victory. This victory puts overRated directly in the finals, their opponent is still to be determined.

Round 3 - Insurgent Camp - Sunday Oct 21st

Just Cause Project vs Redemption

This is a HUGE match for both these teams, all it all goes down this coming Sunday! On the line is a chance to face overRated and go for the $1250 top prize in CEVO Pro. The loser gets $375 and is knocked out of the competition. They faced each other in Week 1 of competition on the pub community's favorite map of SF Hospital. Both teams prepped for this match, with jCp coming out winners 8-6. Although we all know Hospital is not a big favorite of the competitive players so the results from that match can almost be ignored. Insurgent Camp, on the other hand, is quite possibly the top pick for the most balanced (assault vs defense) competitive map in AA. This is a map that Redemption used to struggle on in a bad way, but they have scrimmed it tons of times over the last year, and can now be considered one of the top teams on this map in competition. Just Cause Project used to be pretty much untouchable on this map, and it is definitely still one of their strongest maps to this day. Now lets compare their recent history on IC against good clans, and their recent head-to-head history on all maps.

Redemption's recent Insurgent Camp matches
5-7 loss to oR in TWL Invites.
7-8 loss to oR in CEVO Pro.
8-2 win vs oR in AGC.
8-6 win vs unRestriced in AGC.

Just Cause Project's recent Insurgent Camp matches
12-2 win vs mediocrity in AGC.
12-2 win vs IceTen in AGC.
8-5 win vs IceTen in AGC.

jCp vs Red head-to-head
Red beats jCp 8-3 on Weapons Cache in AGC.
Red loses to Cp 3-11 on Sandstorm in AGC.
Red loses to jCp 4-6 on Pipeline in AGC.
Red and jCp tie 5-5 on Insurgent Camp in AGC.

Good luck to both teams this Sunday. It should be a great match and no matter we will have an interesting final next Wednesday Oct 24th when overRated faces the winner of this match.
