America's Army: TWL Inters Week 6 on MOUT

By: Dave Munro - Published March 03, 2008 at 4:21 PM EST - Writer Archive
TWL Intermediates kicks off the second half of the season tonight. Be ready for some hardcore spamming, intense CQB battles and crazy nade trickery on Mout McKenna.
The 1st half of Season 12 of TWL Intermediates is complete as we enter week 6. Some teams have performed very well, some have been pleasant surprises, and others have been a let down. Every match is important when it comes to league play, and this week is no different. Expect some very fast paced matches with many intense gun fights and tight situations as Mout McKenna is this week’s map.

IceNine vs United 5

No doubt this should be the MOTW as both teams hold a 5-0 record. These are the last 2 teams in the One Division with a perfect record so the winner will most definitely have bragging rights. United 5 have a solid roster and will definitely be tough to beat. If IceNine has 4 starters tonight I would give them the slight edge here. Still, anything can happen as timing, execution, and even spam, all play huge roles in Mout matches.
Prediction: 7-5 i9 > u5

Dropouts vs Notorious Gaming

I would consider dropouts the more skilled of these 2 teams, but nG can sometimes come up with an upset when they bring their ‘A’ game. I doubt either team put much effort in preparing for this match, but it should be a good one nonetheless. In the end dropouts should come out as the victors.
Prediction: 8-4 drp > nG

That’s Dope vs epiC

Both these teams have an aggressive style of match play and pretty even skill level. Whoever is more successful at spamming in the first few rounds may very well knock the other team off guard and mess up their style a little. This one should go down to the wire with the final round being the decider.
Prediction: 6-6 tD = epic

Ataxia vs Knights of the Round Table

Considering both these teams have a lot of league match experience they’ve both been a let down in the first half of the season as is shown by their 1-4 records. Assuming both teams have 4 it should make for a close match. Seeing that Ataxia has struggled recently and Knights have been somewhat average I would give Knights a slight edge.
Prediction: 7-5 Knights > atx

Mug ‘N Mouse vs FightClub

MNM boasts the only 5-0 record in the Four Division, but all their matches have been very tight. Both teams have plenty of match experience on Mout McKenna, which should make for another tight match. FightClub has suffered some inactivity and with a couple of new additions to the roster their timing and teamwork will be somewhat lacking. Expect MNM to take control of the match with fc making up some ground down the stretch.
Prediction: MNM > fc 7-5

Unknown Factor vs 160th Soar

Unknown Factor had a solid first half and currently holds 2nd place in the division. This is a crucial match for them to try to keep pace with MNM. 160th Soar always comes up with a strong effort, but I don’t foresee them beating a more skilled uF squad.
Prediction: uF > 160th 8-4

Unreasonable Ownage vs Volatilis Infensus

With all-time low in activity in back to back weeks vI decided to hang it up for the season and withdraw from the competition (a few guys are keeping the clan going as a pub team for now). Unreasonable Ownage effectively gets a bye this week because of this, which means they will remain in the top 4 in the division with a 4-1-1 record.Result: U > vI by forfeit

Even Flow vs No Said Date

This match definitely has potential to be the best division match-up in week 6. The question is will nsd have 4 players ready to go tonight, chances are pretty slim considering how many matches they’ve forfeited recently, plus they have a couple of members which aren’t able to participate in TWL. Based on EFlow’s recent success in league play it would be a pretty safe guess that they will beat a short-handed nsd roster.
Prediction: EFlow > nsd 9-3

Conviction vs Ice Cold Gaming

The last match this week features 2 teams which are first timers at the Intermediate level. It looks like ic3 has already given up hope, and added a bunch of Cover 3 and Audigy members to their roster. These ringers probably won’t even care to show and I foresee conviction winning their second match in a row against an undermanned team.
Prediction: con > ic3 9-3

Please realize that a lot of assumptions were made in these predictions, and the truth is anything can happen on any given Monday. I’m sure we’ll see a couple of surprises tonight when the results start coming in sometime after 10 pm. Good luck to all!
