America's Army: The Top 10 is back!

By: Dave Munro - Published June 16, 2008 at 11:01 AM EDT - Writer Archive
This method of generating a top list was started probably close to a year ago. The way it works is similar to the way it's done for other competitive games in GotFrag. The top clans are polled to pick their opinion of the top 10 current AA teams.
For the list click here -> Top 10 Rankings

The ranking is determined via a point system similar to grand prix. It's a pretty simple calculation: 1st place vote = 20 points, 2=16, 3=12, 4=9, 5=6, 6=5, 7=4, 8=3, 9=2, 10=1. I was able to obtain votes from most of the CAL invite and CAL main teams. Representative teams were CAL-I: jCp, FD-i, drp, nd, con, eFlow(no), i9, mNm, rS, oR(no), anX, u5 (no); CAL-M: iN, frag, v3, FD-m, adv, mC(no), etU, ess(no), epiC, nH, Lc(no), U, k, fc, ds(no); League Admins: CAL, TWL (it so happened that the league admins were also reps for their teams); GotFrag.

Most representatives simply gave a list 1-10 which is what I requested, but Zeratul of Instruments of Allah decided to write a little something about each team he picked. Here are his picks and feedback. Although some of his comments are blunt and rough, he doesn't hold back and knows his stuff.

1. jcp - they probably have the most experience, no cheaters, and best raw skill.
2. rising storm - they have some big names who are really good (warpain, jonny, becker), but they dont have much experience playing together.
3. oR - I think activity is hurting them, but they have a history of coming out on top even when they seem like they are doing weak.
4. Mug N Mouse, they are good but the fact they roster cheaters makes them lose credibility on how good they ACTUALLY are.
5. FD - I, they are good and have proved they can play with the big 3 by upsetting oR.
6. Dropouts - they have shown success against the lower tier of invite, but have been getting beat down by the upper tier teams as well.
7. iNNo - I think we can beat down on the rest of the garbage teams in invite without much effort. But we also dont have an active core roster as pretty much everyone on the team plays casually removing us from being a top contender.
8. NH - They have been dominating main, they have a good potential to beat us. They have skilled/experienced players but I think they are in the same boat as us activity/dedication wise.
9. ND - They haven't been doing too good in invite, but they have had quite a line up playing oR, FD-I, and mug n mouse. All of their losses were very close and when it comes time for them to play the weaker teams, they will dominate.
10. Icenine - I couldn't find a team decisively deserving of the the number 10 spot so I decided to give it to cheater team icenine to give them recognition of the worthless cheats that they are.
