America's Army: CAL-M Week 2 - Predictions

By: Nicholas Huber - Published October 29, 2008 at 6:02 PM EST - Writer Archive
After two FFWs and a match ended in a tie, Week 2 is getting ready to unfold on MOUT McKenna! GotFrag's Nic Huber gives his predictions on CAL-M Week 2!

Last week, we saw some good matches and two teams get moved to an inactive state to due to giving their opponents the forfeited win. We even saw two teams fight hard to only finish in a tie on last week's map, Pipeline. This week's map is MOUT McKenna. MOUT McKenna is a fast paced map where spam and teamwork, combined, are a crucial component to winning on this map. At the end of the day, whoever has practiced more as a team will win.

IcoNic vs. Version 3-M

IcoNic (Crucial Gaming) received an easy win last week against Final Destination-M, who decided not to show. Final Destination was moved to an inactive state with the league. IcoNic will face Version 3-M this week. After beating Non-Sense last week, Version 3-M thinks this will be their biggest challenge of the season. IcoNic should be able to come out on top of their fight with v3.

Prediction: IcoNic over v3 by 2

Fight Club vs. Severe Insomnia

Fight Club fought hard against Animus last week and the match ended in a tie.  These two teams will probably end up facing each other again in the Playoffs. Fight Club is facing Severe Insomnia this week on MOUT McKenna. Severe Insomnia defeated 36 Chambers last week and this will basically be their first match of the season. (No offense 36c.) Everyone over at CAL’s forums has predicted fc over si, and I don’t think that will be necessarily correct.

Prediction: si > fc by 1

36 Chambers vs. The Knights of the Round Table

36 Chambers suffered a loss, last week, to Severe Insomnia. The drama team definitely needs more players on their roster with the game installed. They are facing The Knights of the Round Table this week. Both teams are walking into Week 2 with losses. Once again, I don’t think 36 Chambers will win. Hobo has even posted on CAL’s forums saying that he didn’t want to play in Main. The post was made mostly due to the fact that a lot of his roster doesn’t even have the game installed.

Prediction
: Knights > 36c by 4

Non-Sense vs. misChief

Non-Sense is coming into Week 2 with a loss from Version 3’s Main team. They are facing off aginst misChief this week. misChief received the easy win, last week, against Team.ess^ since they decided not to show. Much like Final Destination, Team.ess^ was also moved to an inactive state. We haven’t really got to see mC back in action. I look forward to seeing how they do.

Prediction: mC > n3 by 2

Animus vs. Unreasonable Ownage

Animus walked away from Week 1 with a brutal tie with Fight Club. With one of their hardest matches of the season out from under them, I think they are ready to conquer the rest of regular season play; however, they are walking into Week 2 facing another tough competitor, Unreasonable Ownage. They took out AA’s only medieval team, Knights, last week. Can Animus take out this team and cruise through the rest of regular play or will [U] defeat Animus and stand their ground as one of the most dominant Main teams?

Prediction: [U] > anX by 1

Note: Final Destination has received a BYE this week.
