America's Army: GotFrag Predictions: CAL-M Week 4

By: Nicholas Huber - Published November 12, 2008 at 12:16 AM EST - Writer Archive
As CAL Main gears up for their fourth week of matches, GotFrag unveils their predictions for this week!

Due to popular demand (surprise, surprise), GotFrag's CAL Main predictions will be adopting the new GotFrag Predictions format as was unveiled last season. This prediction format will deliver short and sweet descriptions of each match from the GotFrag staff. We will be bringing in a guest predictor each week, and each predictor has one sentence to predict an outcome on a match and why. Stay locked on GotFrag this season to keep tabs on some of the best teams in the game as they fight for a playoff seed in CAL-M Season 10!

Last week, after a good pursuit by hobo and Team Drama, the four starters for Severe Insomnia were suspended for one week each due to failing to comply with CAL's rules regarding taking screenshots. Due to all of the players failing to submit the requested screenshots, the ENTIRE team was suspended for one week that each player that didn't submit screenshots (a grand total of 4 weeks).  After some consideration, Jesterss suspension was removed. The team is currently suspended for three weeks now.

This week's match will be played on popular Weapons Cache. Weapons Cache can be played many ways on Assault and Defense. However, a team with a strong defensive strat will be hard to beat. If Assault can infiltrate to 3rd floor unscathed and manage to defeat the team in the defensive, then Defense will probably end up resorting to a 3rd floor camp, a standard for this map. Luckily, Weapons Cache SE wasn't voted into this year's CAL maps, so teams will not have to worry about a tertiary objective.

Joining Nic "Karmakaze" Huber and Louis "CommieKid" Brill, this week, will be Tommy "tMar" Marriotti from Inevitable Defeat (formerly Unreasonable Ownage).

Team Drama vs. IcoNic (Crucial Gaming)

Team Drama pursued Severe Insomnia to the point where the entire team was suspended from match play for four weeks (recently reduced to three weeks). No telling what they will pursue if their opponents this week, IcoNic, beat them. Drama has a good roster complete with CommieKid, Metalhead, and Roo. After dominating the Knights on MOUT, they recieved a spanking by Version 3 on Woodland Outpost. IcoNic currently holds one of the best records in the division. They received one win from a FFW against then-defunct Final Destination. IcoNic is very capable of adding another win to their record, and they will do their best to achieve that goal.

IcoNic should take the win from Drama; however, Drama could win this with the right roster. Since the match is on Weapons, I think that Drama will field a good roster and take the win.

IcoNic was formerly Crucial Gaming so they will give drama a run for their money on Weapons Cache. However, if aadrama fields the right roster, they should pull out a win.

Drama pubs all their matches, but they have a good roster. This should be a close one. Drama by 1.

Fight Club vs. Inevitable Defeat (formerly Unreasonable Ownage)

Fight Club has expanded their roster by picking up Krypto, formerly of vI and Zenith. After researching past names of Krypto, it appears that chef, a Fight Club player, has a current ACI ban. He is currently on fc's CAL page.  Unreasonable Ownage recently picked up a sponsorship by Inevitable Defeat.  The undefeated team is one of the toughest in this season's CAL Main. Fight Club remains their only remaining team to become undefeated in their conference division.

Weapons Cache is an easy map for any team that has chemistry. Fight Club has the chemistry, but iD plays more and should be able to take this by one or two.

tMar has been on fire lately. And with the addition of oMi and xblade, it doesn't look like Fight Club has much of a chance. Watch tMar and xblade as they plow through Fight Club's roster.

We should mark up another win this week with our solid roster. Unreasonable Ownage by 3.

The Knights of the Round Table vs. Animus

With admitted activity issues, the Knights are playing to that standard: horrible. The team is currently 0-3 and is looking like they will add another loss to their record when they step up to face CAL|NoahB-led Animus. Drama thanks them for giving them their only win of the season on MOUT McKenna. Word on the street is that joSh and oblivion will leave the team due to "unreconcilable differences" with Noah "Substance" Ballard. Since he has added Linkbuck's URLs to every clickable link, it also appears that the Animus website might be something that Substance is finding hard to afford.

Animus should win this all around the board. Statistically, things are in their favor and by the look of the Knights activity, they shall prevail once again.

Animus will win this match with ease; however, I heard some members will leave Animus due to Substance and his try-hard virginity levels skyrocketing.

With the prep Animus puts in, I think Substance will lead Animus to a victory. Animus by 2.

Version 3-M vs. misChief

Version 3's Main team has done expectionally well this season by remaining undefeated. This is also the last team that Version 3-M faces to remain undeafeated in their conference division, much like Unreasonable Ownage.  misChief has no-showed every season. It's really a question why CAL's admins have left them in the league. When Final Destination no-showed their first match of the season, the team was moved to an inactive state. The same goes for Team.ess^.

Version 3 would win this even if PizzaDelivery and his gang of no-shows actually showed up..

misChief is pretty inactive. I fully expect Version 3 to take this match with Bambi Killer leading the way.

Why hasn't misChief been kicked from the league yet? Version 3-M gets the forfeit win.

Final Destination vs. Non-Sense

Final Destination's new team has essentially ZERO match experience except for their two pre-season matches in Open. They currently have a record of 2-1, thanks to misChief and also receiving a BYE during their first week of match play. This is really their first match of the season. It will be interesting to see how they match up against Non-Sense this week. n3 has the advantage over Final Destination due to the chemistry that the team has achieved from playing with each other. Non-Sense has said that Weapons Cache is one of their stronger maps, so we'll see.

After a solid pickup from Above Average and the return of Nanners, Final Destination should do fairly well. I'll go with fd by 1 or 2.

This match should be close, but in the end I will expect Final Destination to come out on top. Final Destination will edge out Non-Sense 8-6.

This will be the first week that Final Destination gets to play a real CAL match. I'll take Final Destination by 1.
