America's Army: GotFrag Predictions: CAL-M Week 5

By: Nicholas Huber - Published November 19, 2008 at 11:20 PM EST - Writer Archive
Bridge SE returns to CAL's Main division as GotFrag's staff and a guest will give their predictions for CAL-M Week 5!

GotFrag has been catering to the America's Army community since April 2007. You, the community, have spoken to make GotFrag a more informative and enjoyable news outlet to cover America's Army. As a result of our recent feedback, we have expanded our productivity by hiring new writers and making public any and all leaked information regarding America's Army 3.0! Stay tuned as GotFrag continues it's stirring coverage of the CAL-Main and Invite leagues!

Currently in CAL-M, we have one team who has never showed up to play (misChief), another team who recently admitted to cheating (Team Drama), and we have one team still under suspension (Severe Insomnia). It's been a while since CAL was looked at respectively among other games, but to America's Army and it's players: it's one of our only decent leagues. If CEVO does not come back, then we are left with one decent league. With Dean D's, CAL's AA game manager, team openly admitted to using a hack developed by one of it's players, it will be interesting to see how CAL reacts to this -- if at all. Of course, this entire paragraph is pointless if hobo lied or the hack is fake.

This week's match will be played on the long-range map Bridge SE. This map has long been a competition favorite in the community and is very similar to regular Bridge. With only two differences, Bridge SE gives you a no-fog advantage and also gives you another route to advance towards the objective, the Southeast Hilltops. Patience and teamwork will be the overall riding factor for completing Week 5 with a win.

Joining Nic "Karmakaze" Huber and Louis "CommieKid" Brill, this week, will be Josh "-joSh" Mugrage from Animus eSports.

Non-Sense vs. The Knights of the Round Table

Non-Sense walked away with a big win over Final Destination, last week, on Weapons Cache. Non-Sense only let Final Destination get a couple of rounds when fd was on Defense, and n3 was unstoppable during their turn on Defense. This week, they are set to face a team who is doing even worse than fd: The Knights of the Round Table. Do The Knights even try anymore? It's no question that they are having troubles with staying active. Snigbe has been seen applying for other teams in the past couple of months.

It's obviously no question regarding the Knights' inactivity. Non-Sense has no reason to not win this, but if the Knights come with their A game, then they could pose a huge threat.

The Knights were Bridge SE God's for a brief period of time. I expect Knights to take this match by a good margin.

10-4 Knights

The Knights have BigBalla, but Non-Sense has a more active roster, so n3 is the dead give away here.

       9-5

Final Destination vs. Animus

Final Destination did rather poorly after their first real match of the season against Non-Sense. Since then, the activity of the team has been slim to none. Malice has been seen playing World of Warcraft over Xfire, so perhaps their best player has returned? Final Destination is currently preparing for their second match of the season. Unfortunately, they are facing off against one of the toughest competitors in the league: Animus.  Animus is ready to extend their CAL record to 3-1-1.

Malice has returned to Final Destination after moving into his new house and it's highly likely that he will be participating this week. I still don't think they will be able to overcome Animus, but I think it will be close.

Animus will win this match up, but Final Destination should be able to pull out a few rounds, especially on Bridge SE.

Animus will take the prize over fd, thanks to Shadow's distance shot and Tyler's 203ing, though fd have actually scrimmed the map, so it should be close I'm gonna say 8-6 Animus.

Fight Club vs. Team Drama

Fight Club has a mediocre record right now; however, since Severe Insomnia's suspension, the team has stepped up and has fought to be called one of the toughest teams in the division. I cannot say the same for Team Drama, except that they were the cause of Severe Insomnia's suspension. Bridge SE is won easily with teamwork and chemistry. This is something that Drama doesn't have.

Short and simple: Fight Club will take out Team Drama by at least 3.

It is already known that aadrama hates long range maps and will not be able to field 4 players in this match up. Fight Club will win regardless of a forfeit.

I would give this match to fc over Team Drama. Zoink and fng are great distant shots and fng is a Bridge king. If Clean isn't feeling his age, he may be able to help out as well. I will say 8-6 fc

Inevitable Defeat (Unreasonable Ownage) vs. Version 3-M

It's clear what the Match of the Week will going to be with Inevitable Defeat (Unreasonable Ownage) vs. Version 3's Main team. Both of these teams have great chemistry and they have been around long enough to build the teamwork. tMar's boys have added a few cheaters to their team, who also bring major skill. Both these teams lead their conference divisions and they will clash hard. After Week 5's matches are over, only one team will be the #1 seed for all of the division. Someone has to walk away with a loss. Stay tuned to GotFrag to find out!

This match could go either way. I would love to see the demo to see how these two match up. The win will be determined by who plays for which team. I'll go with iD by 1.

Unreasonable Ownage is going to be the only good team v3 has played this season, but on Bridge SE, there is no telling who is going to win. Version 3 will try extremely hard, but Unreasonable Ownage will make it close. I'll give Unreasonable Ownage the close 8-6 win.

alkali and liberty, as well as team cohesion, will be deciding factors in this match if oMi and agentRyan miss it.
