Starting on Thursday, the PDXLAN 5 will begin. The event will span four days with many tournaments and prizes to be won. Some of the top Battlefield 2 teams will be showing up and competing in the Battlefield 2 8v8 Tournament. In just over a day, the PDXLAN 5 will kick off and open its doors on Thursday the 11th. The event, which takes place in Portland Oregon, boasts that it is the largest LAN on the West Coast. There will be many tournaments and raffles taking place throughout the event. Several of the sponsors will have booths set up for players to browse around including Intel and Nvidia. The entry fee to the event is now at $55 - $60 depending on how many tickets are left. The tournaments that will be taking place are as follows: Counter-Strike: Source 5v5 Battlefield 2 8v8 Unreal Tournament 2004 1v1 Unreal Tournament 2004 CTF 3v3 Warcraft III 1v1 And a Gamer's Choice Tournament that will be announced soon. There are over $100,000 in prizes so there is plenty to go around for the winners. Nvidia is sponsoring the Battlefield 2 Tournament and the winners will each receive a brand new Nvidia graphics card. Though they don't say which card, I would imagine it will be either a 6600GT or 6800GT. Several top teams in Battlefield 2 are going to attend this event such as The Final Stand and Paradigm Shift. We'll keep you updated on how the event and Battlefield 2 tournament go. Until then, be sure to check out the Official PDXLAN 5 Website. |
