Battlefield 2: Euro-esport Infantry Cup

In the 3d Boomtown Infantry Qualifier, we saw teams including EXiT 11 and Dignitas descend on Arhus, Denmark!
Journal of EXiT 11 at Arhus, Denmark. Infantry Cup 2006.

When we first were told that there was to be a major LAN infantry event in Denmark, we immediately start to ask: “where, who, what, how, mommy?“ As more and more information became available, so the idea to attend this tournament started to look increasingly tempting.
Though unsponsored as we are, we were determined to go. We had to......we had to for the children.

Plans were made, sketches were drawn, socks washed and underwear packed. Through family connections a car was lent and the tank all filled up with the juicy juicy. The rendezvous point: Amsterdam central station. Here the adventure started, but not without some minor complications. The driver, yours truly, had to wait for the other members of this gaming ratpack to give him the green-light call. Unfortunately, the first call he received was from Marcelol where he briefly explained how he managed to forget his mouse. Yeah, he forgot the only thing you really need to play this tournament, his mouse. Amazing, I know. The original plan stated a departure time of 11 in the morning, but that soon turned out to be 14:00'ish in the afternoon. No problem, pedal to the metal and as soon as we would hit Germany's autobahn we could make good on lost time.

Wrong. POLIZEI 5000 METER. Major police activities which lead to a nice jam of about an hour and a half. Marcel was pleased, figuring this was his chance to show off his newly acquired passport, some sort of special emergency one. “Now I didn't go through all that trouble for nothing” Wrong again, as they were only interested in the trucks. I'd check those Dutch trucks too to be fair, can't trust 'em no sirrie Bob. As we cleared the police control, the open German Autobahn was ours once more. The asphalt was pulled underneath the car as we made steady with a speed that would make something not quite as fast say: “mmm, you're going awfully quick.” But of course, the fun was not to last. The Germans are preparing something fishy because most of the roads were under construction. Ah well, so much for das autobahn !

Driving all day, the sun began to set while suddenly the Danish border came in sight. “HOORAH” we shouted, even though the GPS said there were still about 270 kilometers of Danish road ahead of us. Little did we know the Danish drive as fast as zie Germans and Arhus was reached in about 2 hours. As we entered the city limits, the author came to a shocking conclusion: “where did I put the address of that youth hostel we were staying at”. “Ah right, on my desk......home ? ARGH”
Ha, but our luck changed and while driving towards the centre of the city, we saw the yellow sign “City-inn” Bingo. Destination reached.

Checking in at the youth hostel, where we met the first of many pretty Danish girls. Now I want you to know that I was in Stockholm, Sweden a few months before all of this. And contrary to common believe, the Swedish pretty blond girls are not Swedish at all. They are Danish! I swear, every where you go, there's a pretty blonde Danish girl. I am not a religious kind of guy, but as we were walking to the Boomtown cafe on Friday night to scope the place out, our eyes were bombarded with so many pretty Danish girls that I could imagine God creating this place first and then didn't really bother with the rest of the world. In fact, the pretty girl ratio here is so high that you'd find more models working at the local Arhus McDonalds than in Milan, Rome or London. Amazing.
