The third and last round of the groupstage is to be decided this weekend! Who has already made it to the play-offs and who will grab a ticket to it this weekend? Pistol "Disorder" Pete provides the answer. ![]() We can look forward to yet another very important weekend for the Battlefield 2 scene. Not only, we will have the highly anticipated final of the Battlefield 2 World Tournament between EXiT11 and Code7 (Sunday, 21.00 - covered by TSN from 19.15). Also, we have decisive matches for the groupstage of the Eurocup. This very prestigious cup has a rich tradition and history and former winners are names everyone knows: Team Dignitas, Mousesports, Team XuffiX (now Dignitas.de). Who will succeed these juggernauts? Well, it won't be Code7, one of the biggest favourites to go all the way. They sadly announced their retirement after the World Tournament and retreated from both CAL.eu (where they were title defenders) and the Eurocup. After the World Tournament final, a statement of Code7 will be publicized, right here on GotFrag.com. Code7 was a bless for the BF2 community. Indeed, they were a fresh addition to the top of the Battlefield 2 scene when it was most needed. They seemed to come out of nowhere but boy, did they make name! They were the first team to beat Team XuffiX (now Dignitas.de) online which was the turning point in the ranks of the very best in Battlefield 2 in Europe. While Team XuffiX (now Dignitas.de) was without any doubt the best Battlefield 2 clan in the first 6 months of BF2, Code7 took over and dominated the scene untill this very moment. They won the European CAL League and managed to qualify for the allover finals of the World Tournament after beating US topclan HOT in a very intense war. There is no doubt and no point in discussing Code7 has been thé bést (European?) BF2 clan the last months and it's with great regret we need to read these guys... kick out. Code7 seem to be not motivated anymore to continue in BF2 after the World Tournament. Whether the upcoming 1.3 patch, which will abolish the squadhopping (a feature Code7 had finetuned to perfection), has anything to do with this choice - I leave the discussion wide open. Anyway, all of this makes a big loss for the BF2 Eurocup. This said, prepare yourselve for some intense Battlefield 2 matches this weekend. Let's hope The-Swede and BFTV, still the leading shoutcasting service in BF2, will go mental and provide us with some great show on the most exciting matches. Last but not least, the play-offs will be double elimination! Hurray! |
