Code7 is to represent Europe in a fierce combat for the gold in the DirecTV Championship Gaming Invitational tournament. 20.000 dollar and alot of honor is at stake! Pistol "Disorder" Pete confronted OliT, the Code7 manager. Interview with Code7|OliT. ![]() - what line-up will code7 bring to San Francisco? Code7 press release: Today we are proud to present the newest player to join codeseven! Vanishz, formerly of Saunaboys and Team9 enter codeseven as a full fledged member as of today, and will be a part of the group going to the DirecTV Championship Gaming Invitational in San Francisco, USA, later this month. And with that, the roster for the event is finalized, and is as follows: Sweden: OliT - Commander & Manager Sweden: SpeedyHS - Tanker Sweden: JaZzE - APC driver Sweden: Vanishz - Infantry Finland: Kalma - Infantry & Team Captain Finland: Corey - Infantry Finland: Chordi - Infantry Denmark: LionTail- - Infantry Norway: Redux - Chopper / Infantry Due to lack of time and dedication we decided to leave out our possibly strongest ground players, the deadly inf duo of Neo and Osk. Due to their young age it has been hard for them to fully affect vacations with their parents, and we belive this is the best solution. It`s a big shame, and it would have been very enjoyable to play with them in the states. - How bad is the departure of Neo and Osk? Vanishz is a known rude player but what about Corey? c7|OliT: Not really that bad, they are skilled, but unable to practice as much as we need them to. Apart from Neo and Osk not being able to polish their own skills, it also affects our training. Corey didn't play a whole lot during the world tournament but he started the clan, and he is a good player. - will the tournament be played patch 1.3? Is the tournament 8v8 conquest and double elimination? Have you got any more information about the format of the tournament (maps etc) or the tournament itselve (irc channel, website,) c7|OliT: Unfortunatley I don't have all the details regarding the tournament yet, but it's probably going to be played with the latest patch. - how has code7 adapted to 1.3, as you had squadhopping finetuned to perfection before? c7|OliT: We are still working on adapting, but we should be able to master it before the event. - how is the practise working out with alot of the best clans not competing anymore in 1.3? Do you find enough quality teams to scrim with? Are you back in the form you had during the World Tournament? c7|OliT: We have a few weeks of practice ahead of us, and without a doubt we will be going ot the states with a team fully up for the task. It's going quite ok, we have started playing infwars again, and we have worked out some stunning tactics :). - how different will it be to compete against the very best the american scene has to offer in an offline contest comparing to an online contest? what LAN experience does Code7 have? do you train specificly on that? c7|OliT: Online or Offline doesn't really concern us that much, we haven't participated in any 8vs8 tournaments with an all codeseven team, but we're confident that it will work out. - when do you arrive in san francisco? do you reckon with a possible jetlag? It might affect your performance, right? c7|OliT: We are arriving at the 19th, and we start playing at the 21st, so jetlag shouldn't be that big of a problem. - do the organizers fully pay your trip? c7|OliT: I rather not comment to much on the details surrounding the event, but the primary expenses are paid for by the organisers, and with that I mean travel and hotel stay. - what are the exact prizes for the 1d, 2d, 3d and 4th? Or is it only 20.000$ for 1d? c7|OliT: The prizes are 20.000$ first, 10.000$ second. - how big are your chances to win this one and succeed yourselve as the best team in the world? 20ID is looking unstoppable at the moment, destroying every clan in the US and already having lots of experience with 1.3? c7|OliT: It's hard to comment on our chances to win this tournament. We know that we have the skills needed, but it's all about getting enough practice and time to start working together again. - As 20ID seem to me more about skills then truly adapting to the game and Warchild probably not being the biggest threat, I believe Team HOT will be thé team to beat once again. What do you think? c7|OliT: HOT hasn't played a lot recently, so at this time we think of all three of them as big opponents, we will have to work hard to beat them. - if you win, how will you spend the 20.000 dollars? will you fly to orlando florida to compete in that other 20.000 dollar BF2 LAN in August? What about the-experience, can we expect Code7 to attend? c7|OliT: We aren't planning to participate in the Orlando event, and we haven't reflected on the-experience, but we won't rule out anything. - tell us a bit more about the coverage of this offline tournament, why is it so important for Code7 and the other clans participating? What is directTV? c7|OliT: DirecTV is a very big satellite channel in the USA, it has around 15 million subscribers. For us it is a big opportunity to spread the codeseven name to a wider crowd. Increased exposure of our brand is a very good thing for us, and apart from that it's also a big honour to be able to participate, and we are counting on it to be a lot of fun. - how is the team looking forward to 2142 and ET:QW? will you try both out? c7|OliT: We are planning on trying out both games, but we are currently leaning toward quakewars. Mostly due to the way we've felt regarding the support of the developers. If DICE were to initiate contact with the clan community, such as us, perhaps the lost faith in their ability to support a game would be regained. - any more shoutouts are more then welcome? c7|OliT: Good luck to all teams we will be competing with in the event, thanks a whole bunch to our sponsors for the support the last 9 months, AKG, Harman International, Harmony Design, Zalman. Thanks to everyone that has given us good feedback and wished us good luck with our trip. Thanks for the interview, Disorder. - It's been a pleasure, like always. |
