20ID is 1 of 4 teams picked for the DirecTV CGS Invitational $30,000 debut tournament. Burt Flaxton has a sit down with 20ID's president James "Jamison" Noonan.
Interview with [20ID]Jamison.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: What is the line-up 20ID has scheduled for play this July @ San Francisco, and who will be occupying what positions?

Jamison: Ginc: Commander, sterex: tanker, BizZ: APC, krispey: Helicopter, bub: Infantry, Speedy: Infantry, Alex: Infantry, jamison: Infantry. We still haven't received clarification on whether or not the 9th person will be able to compete. If the 9th person can not compete and is serving strictly as a team manager/coach, then it will be jihad. However, if the 9th person can participate, it will be Tactics.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: How long have these members been a part of 20ID, do you the same strong starting 8 from Season#3, or are we seeing some of 20ID's 1st season players?

Jamison: Ginc (Founder 1998), BizZ (1998), speedy (2003), bub (2003), and myself (2003) are all long time members. Sterex, krispey, and alex are all relatively new members that joined earlier this year, but they have fit in perfectly and I believe they will still be with us well in to the future. The 8 players selected, plus Tactics, proof, severed, and daskro made up our Season 3 CAL roster.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: 20ID was 1 of 4 teams chosen, what is it that you think got you that spot?

Jamison: We were told that EA and Dice recommended us for the event. I feel that 20ID has been an active member of the Battlefield community for many years now and we're just very excited to receive this opportunity. From a more technical standpoint, I believe our success in CAL and our overall BF2 record would help our argument greatly. The only negative we have on our record is our disappointing performance in the World Tournament. We know exactly what caused that lackluster performance, but there's no need for us to make our excuses public.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: The show will reportedly be aired sometime in January, how do you think that will affect game play, being televised and all? I know that they are shortening the rounds to accommodate for the short attention span of the TV viewers; are there any other changes that will be made?

Jamison: We don't have official word on the exact format of the tournament but if I had to guess it would be: 2 Rounds, single elimination, 85% tickets, 2 rounds (most tickets wins), 15 minute per round time limit. Other than that and the added pleasure of playing for a large cash prize and having a studio audience and having it being aired on DirecTV, it should be normal.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: We have already discussed how it isn't going to be recorded coverage, which means that we won’t miss out on half of the action like we do in a shout cast. This also means better quality, and more accurate commentating. Do you think they will make the game look glorious and do a good job? Or do you expect that since they are sort of foreign to the gaming atmosphere, that they won't capture the right aspect or angle of the competitive gaming community and match play?

Jamison: They are experts on television broadcasting and sports entertainment. I have very high expectations for their presentation and content.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: Hopefully we will be seeing a first person view during the gun fights, do you think this is that will bring the audience, because we all know if you haven’t played BF2 you wouldn't know what was going on at all.

Jamison: I have no idea exactly how they will be covering the action. I am very curious to learn more as we get closer to the event.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: Code7 is coming in from Europe , and we all know after winning the WT they stopped competitive BF2 play, as did HOT after the 2nd week of CAL Main's 2nd season. Do you think this gives your team the edge, or does it go deeper than that?

Jamison: I believe cash prizes are a great motivator and the competition should be wide open. I look forward to playing all of the competitors.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: What will 20ID do to prepare for this tournament? Will you scrim day in day out, work on teamwork, develop new strats, focus on individual skill levels?

Jamison: I believe we'll do at least a little bit of each. We look forward to preparing heavily, including scrims, stratting, and overall map study.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: DIRECTV President of Entertainment, David Hill, well-known for his broadcasting innovations at Fox Sports, recently stated that “Today, we are making a commitment to the world of E-Sports that will bring the phenomenon of competitive gaming to a critical mass,” Do you think that this could be the big break we as gamers have been waiting for?

Jamison: I believe this is a huge step for gaming in general and I hope it's well received. I'm confident in the production crew and minds behind this project and I know all of the teams are ready and willing to do whatever we can to make it a success.

- GotFrag|Burt_Flaxton: Any more shoutouts?

Jamison: I'd like to thank our sponsors - Xfire, OCZ Technology, Pure Voice Communications, MileHi Servers, Innate Media Group, LISHosting, and Patriot Hosting. Look for a new partner announcement shortly and we're also preparing to release a new web site within the next week or so.
