CAL Main week 3 is on the map of maps. Mashtuur has been the battlegrounds for the championship map for many seasons. It is always very intense during the beginning of the season, and I expect to start seeing the big names pull away from everyone after this week. Week 3 Predictions Team Dynamic vs Dead Presidents
Last week Dynamic (who up to that point was a top 5 team in my mind) suffered a huge upset to Man Up. This was shocking seeing as Man Up is entirely new to main competition and Dynamic had a season under their belt on arguably the most complicated map of the season in Dalian Plant. This tells me one of two things, either Man^ is much better than I thought or Dynamic was a little overrated. I’m going to reserve judgment on that at the moment but it certainly showed Dynamic to be vulnerable. That being said they face the Dead Presidents this week on mashtuur city and should be given a good run for their money. Dead Presidents may not have an all star roster but they are more than competent, as well as the fact the weakest component of Dynamic may be their armor. I saw Steve loven tanking for them at one point who needless to say isn’t exactly a Sterex clone. That being said I think Dynamic is going to come back with a vengeance this week and do everything in their power to get back on the board with a win.
Check-Six vs Team HOT Fadeight joined the depleted Check-Six organization this past week and will come out hard seeking a win to impress their new sponsors. However they face their toughest test yet this season and possibly the best BF2 team in the world in Team HOT. Fadeight has great players at every position and Calculated_Carnage might even be better than Darth_Greig in the tank. One catch though, HOT has the most talented, deepest, and best organized infantry squad in the history of battlefield competition. It took everything 20id had to beat them at CGI in this map and frankly I don’t think Check-Six is good enough to pull it off. HOT will swarm the flags with extreme precision as always and win this one easily.
In Week 2 the mammies showed solid signs of life by taking a round from a very solid team in neXgen and logic would suggest that they will dispatch everclear easily who has simply looked overmatched in
Everclear 2-1
Eviscerate vs BTK
All season long BTK has been complaining about how their pings combined with the talent of CAL-M has made it impossible for them to win against any of their opponents. Now this isn’t exactly true as there are some bargain basement opponents in CAL-M who I am still quite confident BTK can defeat but they may have a point that without prone spamming and things of that nature they are left largely crippled against their North American opponents. Combine that with the fact that they are certainly not facing a bargain basement team this week in Eviscerate. Now while Eviscerate hasn’t necessarily come out of the gates firing this season their infantry skill should pull them over the hump in this match up.
FFison vs Mercenaries Clan
FFison is a team that has quickly overcome my predictions and proved me wrong and I would like to congratulate Pedhead and his crew for that. I thought when Simpledeath2 left that they had “jumped the shark” so to speak and would quickly fall off the table. Then they fired right out of the gates and beat a good everclear team. That being said FFison isn’t top 10 material but they can certainly win enough with their new tanker LtDeath in order to stay out of the bottom 10. Their opponent this week Mercenaries Clan has been to have some good infantry by some but I’m honestly not really seeing it. This is gonna play out with LtDeath winning the armor war and ultimately the map this week on mashtuur.
Man^ vs Team cRucial Man^ seems to have really started pulling it together with a solid win over Dynamic last week but I suspect that Dynamic came in slightly under prepared as well. That being said Man Up is forming into a very solid team and will be one to look out for as an upset in the making for weeks to come. They face a talented Team cRucial this week however who dispatched with Paradigm Shift with relative ease in a quick 2-0 victory. This one will come down to the armor skill of each team and their ability to coordinate pushes after an armor piece goes down. Should be fun.
6thAD vs Warchildren This is a match up of open powerhouses last year as 6thAD and warchildren both ran deep into the playoffs both thwarted by eventual finalists in Man Up and poppycock. Neither team has any true all-stars at any position but are very solidly placed throughout their roster and on paper look fairly even for talent. Given their past match history 6thAD hasn’t lost a round yet but has really faced the bottom of CAL-M teams while warchild lost a side to Dead Presidents. However at the end of the day Mashtuur is a map where team chemistry and knowing how and when to push wins the day. I am going to give Warchildren the advantage in that department given their parent organization although this one could go either way.
RoM vs Paradigm Shift This is a real MOTW candidate. Paradigm shift is coming off a very tough loss to their Season 1 rivals Team cRucial in which they were basically finished after a incredible tank pixel ended their hopes of getting the chopper on US. Meanwhile Rebel Gaming Group/ ROM got a shellacking of their own from Check-Six despite high hopes to be a top 5 team this season. In other words these two veteran teams will both seek to solidify their position back among the best in CAL-M. I could spout on and on about one player or another but really what it comes down to for these two teams is a difference in quality of infantry. RoM while talented doesn’t have that many proven players as they sport CAL-O all-stars like Venom and Razzaque. All I need to say about Paradigm Shift and why they’re going to win is one word…. Snarf.
Impact vs Poppy This sadly is another mismatch of talent. Impact has a win on the board but it is only due to a forfeit from the now deceased NET team. Poppy on the other hand has shown themselves in the past to have some real talent and proved it by winning CAL-O last season. Sure they lost to 20id last week but then again who doesn’t? Poppy over Impact in a BLOWOUT.
NeXgen vs EoW These teams both certainly have top 10 potential but have been something of an enigma at the moment. NeXgen has shown us two different teams between week 1 and 2. In week 1 they took cRucial to the absolute limit and only lost due to a clutch save by yours truly and another clutch cap at the same time by Lithoss to swing the advantage in cRucial’s favor. Meanwhile they lost a round to the Mammies last week which down a man or not isn’t a very good thing. Evolution of Warfare on the other hand has had high hopes coming into the season but lost their #1 infantry 0909 and lost a round to another lower CAL-M team in the Hell Katz Squad. I have a strong feeling that EoW may have been crippled by the 1.4 patch and might not be able to adapt. Meanwhile I think neXgen had an off week last time out and will come out strong to show they belong this week. |
