Week 6 CAL predictions! This week we have been brought to Daqing Valley for our second chopper dominated map of the season (Dalian doesn’t count). Bruce and Khem are probably out drinking somewhere to celebrate this momentous occasion. Now, while this map is certainly dominated by the chopper that doesn’t mean if you lose the initial fight that all is lost. There are more jeeps on this map than any other that comes to mind and those .50cal can dominate a chopper quickly if well coordinated. If HOT doesn’t gun down at least 1 chopper I will be amazed. With that all being said on to the predictions! Censor Nazis vs Blitzkriegers CN 2-0 Eviscerate vs FFison FFison is really the team without an infantry squad. Short of an infantry squad FFison is normally a very solid team and often have enough to beat some solid teams. However the other glaring weakness they have is the lack of a solid chopper crew. Even more depressing is the fact that is going to be accentuated by the fact Bruce and Khem play for their opponents Eviscerate. I don’t really know what to think of Eviscerate at this point. Supposedly they merged with sK but that leaves me wondering exactly who from sK wasn’t playing for Eviscerate already? Regardless it seems to have quelled the iLLicit movement which should add some much needed stability to this team. Look for them to win solidly this week against FFison. Eviscerate 2-0 Dead Presidents vs Team Impact BROTHER VS BROTHER! PEYTON VS ELI! Or was it two CAL players who no one really knows…. I forget. Anyway call me stupid but I still look at Dead President and see 2HOT. I don’t know what it is but they just can’t seem to shake that perception. Meanwhile Impact is a team that has shown themselves to be of decent skill as they have notables like Tactician, Russian, and the ever overconfident Rizz. Jokk isn’t exactly the most stellar chopper guy ever but I’m not sure Hatchet is even active for Dead Presidents. This one could go either way but I’m banking on the team with the better record in Team Impact. Dead Presidents is on the fast track for 2-4 with a match against Paradigm on tap as well. Oh yeah they’re definitely losing that one. Impact 2-0 cRucial vs Check Six Oh boy this is going to be a dandy! My former team cRu is facing off against Check-Six in what should prove to be an epic battle on Daqing. cRu lost both myself and exile this week on their roster but should compensate adequately for this map with the supposed return of WoC. Check-six has strong infantry as well and should come to a near stalemate in that department. Kev and Koko should make for a pretty interesting matchup in the air but that should largely be determined by Swifty and Methane who pilot their respective crews. I’ll give a slight edge to cRu in that matchup as from what people tell me… swifty can’t do anything but fly higher. That being said I think Calculated_Carnage definitely has a slight edge on Lithoss, although I’m not sure it will matter. In the end I’m gonna say cRu but Check-six could take this one just as easily. The chopper battle will determine the match. cRu 2-1 Warchildren vs 20id I am officially changing the name of Warchild to Warchildren. I am sick and tired of thinking the main warchild team is playing a team when I actually have them entirely mixed up with their b-team. That being said.. this one isn’t going to be close. 20id was threatened in CAL play for the first time in a long time last week when cRu took them to the limit on Karkand. Daqing brings Tactics and Krispey into the mix however and they are without a doubt the best overall chopper crew in BF2. 20id will take this one easily. Sorry warchildren the joy ride ends here. 20id 2-0 Team HOT vs everclear Another mismatch sigh… HOT can only play each team once and aside from 20id they have already faced all comers and come out unscathed. They’re gonna run over everclear and its not going to be pretty. I’ll put everclear’s odds at 5000:1. HOT 2 to -1 neXgen vs 6th Armor Division neXgen has been on the upswing this week after losing dramatically to Paradigm shift. Rumors have been swirling about regarding something called Era gaming and they made two pickups from Team cRucial in Exile and myself. This should help to solidify their infantry although they are now having problems with sparhawk their tanker has he has been active only sporadically recently due to personal issues. 6thAD however has been on a downslide since starting 2-0 in Main and really haven’t been the same since the end of season three when they had a rash of departures. They are still competitive to be sure but this one will be tough for them. I’ll make sure of it :-P GLHF Hell Katz Squad vs Team Warchild Just to clarify this is indeed Warchild’s A team which is bad news bears for the Hell Katz because its unlikely they’ll be able to make a game of this. That being said losing Jerunk to HOT was a big loss for Warchild’s air game and it might affect them in this matchup. Although even so, I seriously doubt it. Warchild should take this one easily. Warchild 2-0 Spec Ops Exec vs Borderline Here lies two examples of top tier open teams last season which really are having problems adjusting to CAL-M. Neither of these teams has any experience with this sort of competition and it is definitely showing. Borderline barely eeeked out a win against the mammies last week for their first W of the season. I expect them to continue that trend this week against specops exec whose only win this season comes the way of a forfeit. Winning for real vs winning by forfeit…. Hmmmm who would you choose? Borderline 2-1 RoM vs Team Dynamic This is a potential MOTW… cept for the fact x6 is playing cRu. Dynamic has been continuing their solid play based on good teamwork rather than amazing individual skill this season and it has worked quite well for them. ROM on the other hand has some good individual talent and is has thus far rounded it into a nice 4-1 record. Neither of these teams have much of a chopper crew to note but both should put up quite a show fighting for the center flag. I’m not entirely sure which way this one is going to go but if Raccoon hits the turf put this one in the bag for Dynamic. Dynamic 2-1 Paradigm Shift vs Mercenaries Clan I have to give it to MC. I never ever ever would have guessed they’d be 3-2 at this point in the season. For a relative unknown that is pretty fantastic. They have no notables on their team but every week seem to put in a solid effort including a mystifying 2-0 win over poppycock last week. Meanwhile though I think Paradigm is ready to kick it into high gear once again. UFOwnage is my boy but I really think his commanding wasn’t quite at the level that Paradigm needed for them to be an elite team in CAL. But Silver is back and hes ready to roll with paradigm. The honeymoon ends here for MC, sorry guys. Paradigm 2-0 Poppycock vs EoW I have no idea what to think of Poppycock. They have lost 3 matches so far this season and 2 of them were to 20id and Dynamic so no big deal there. But MC? Who in their right mind would have thought that would happen ESPECIALLY 2-0. Maybe Kraxx going inactive again has led to things sloping down hill but I can’t believe Poppycock is as bad as they seem considering how well they did last season. eOw on the other hand seems to be very on again off again as well. RedHot and Death make a solid combo when they’re practicing together but Death probably won’t even tank on this map seeing as he does nothing but play Silkroad Online forcing RedHot into the tank. RedHot will do fine but he is not quite as proficient as Death in his prime. Both these teams need to get their act together but I can’t come to grips with the fact the 20id organization might lose 3 matches in a row. 20id 2-1 |
