Team HOT vs 20id : 2-1
Map: Shongua Stalemate
Well well, it has been 10 weeks of hard work and roster shakeups. This has all been leading up to the crowning event that took place tonight. #2 ranked Team HOT (9-1) faced off against #1 ranked 20id (10-0) for the season 4 CAL-Main Championship match that occured on the foggy swamps of Songhua Stalemate. Team HOT's only loss in regular season play was against the always well prepared 20id. Both FragTV and EGLN were in the house to shoutcast this highly contested match.
This week saw the return of Darth Greig to the starting line up. Darth's and Legun's combined performance overall in the light armor gets hero status from the match from extremely good play.
Round 1 HOT picked China to start off the match. 20id pulled some furtive moves as they bait and switched HOT very well at the North flag at the beginning of the round. While HOT secured the North flag, jam had a mass spawn on him in HOT's main base. This left 20id in a very good position as they had the bleed and HOT pinned in at the North flag. HOT defended North from a few onslaughts from 20id, but the experience of 20id overall knew better to just leave the round bleed out - giving them the round 1 win.
Round 2 20id played as China. HOT pulled a two pronged assault immediately on South and North flags. 20id quickly punished HOT's push at North while HOT captured the South flag. The following events led up to some flag tag as HOT pushed 20id's main base. The aftermath of this led to HOT securing both the North and South flags while holding the bleed. Eventually, 20id fought their way back into South flag but the damage had already been delt. Team HOT went on to regain the bleed and the round 2 win.
Round 3 20id still had control of side choice. Convinced with their dominant showing as US, 20id replayed their winning side from round 1. Both teams ran their identical strats from round 1 with some different results. This time, HOT was cognizant of the strat and learned from their past mistake. 20id's jeep pulled into HOT's main but Cheshire was ready for it this time and went +2 frags. This map was named correctly as a stalemate insued as both teams continually attempted to push into either the North or South flag. Eventually, HOT secured South twice due to Jerunk being a total hero. His ability to stay alive this round was impressive as he kept HOT within striking distance of 20id controlled South flag. The bleed was put onto 20id too often for the team to recover as HOT went on to win round 3 and the Season 4 title!
This was a well fit match for one of the best seasons of Battlefield 2 to date. HOT would like to thank everyone for good games this season and now set their eyes on a CPL title at the Winter Finals.
