Performance has recently joined Team Dignitas after playing for Cloud9 for two years. Inside he talks about his motiviation for switching teams and has some tips for new players to Battlefield 2. I recently had the time to sit down with Morten "Performance" Pedersen and asked him a few questions. He recently joined Team Dignitas after leaving Cloud9. I talk to him about his move and his experience with Team Dignitas. First, could you please introduce yourself and your role with Team Dignitas.
Performance: My name is Morten Pedersen, I am 18 years old, and live in Denmark. I started playing BattleField 1942 approximately 2 years ago, because I was getting tired of Counter-Strike and it's community. It didn’t take long before I was in a good BattleField 1942 clan, Cloud9! After 2 years with Cloud9, I felt I wanted to try something new and different, so I had a little chat with the teamleader of Dignitas, and here I am :). When I don’t sit in front of the computer, I work as a Carpenter. The main reason I joined Team-Dignitas was because they lost one of their pilots, and I saw it as a great opportunity to play in a professional clan :).
Are there any hard feelings between you and Cloud9?
Performance: Well you would think there was, but I'm still regularly joining TeamSpeak and chatting with them, and two of my IRL friends play in Cloud9. So no hard feelings at all :).
Since you are a pilot, and a great one from what I hear, is there any advice you'd offer new players who are thinking of becoming pilots?
Performance: Well one of the things I do when I train in the Chopper, is create a lan server on a map like Dragon Valley and just fly around. Like leaping around in the air, practicing dodge moves, flying under bridges, into buildings. One of the main keys in becoming a good pilot, is not to crash into anything. Remember to use your different views you have in your chopper!
Do you play as any other class or are you strictly a pilot?
Performance: I am a pretty good infantry, if I might say so myself :P. So on none-chopper maps im usually assault or antitanker :).
Do you feel that Team Dignitas will allow you to grow as a gamer?
Performance: I already think I have grown as a gamer, with all the attention on me there has been these past days, which is great by the way! And my parents who barely know how to turn on a computer, have read the interviews and news about me, and they think its pretty cool, so I must say I've gotten more "Accepted" in my gaming :).
Team Dignitas is currently participating in TWL's Global Crisis 2005 Tournament. How do you feel it is progressing? Do you care to make any predictions on who will make it to the final four?
Performance: So far I think all the clans that were expected to win their match in the first round, have won it. There are a lot of great clans in the TWL, I think Team-Dignitas will advance from Division 1. Division2 there are two great clans in the form of Cloud9 and Pactum, but I think Cloud9 will draw the longest Straw :). In Division 3, I think utopianer will, they have a nice team. In Division 4, I think Pelit will advance. So Cloud9, Utopianer, Pelit, and Team-Dignitas will be in the semi-finals.
Who do you feel are the top five Battlefield 2 teams in Europe?
Performance: That's a hard one, but I would say Cloud9, SSV Lehnitz, Utopianer, First Core and Team-Dignitas.
How do you prepare for a match?
Performance: We go on the server like two hours before the official match, and go through the tactics, and have some intern fighting. After that we practice Starts with another clan. Gets us pretty warm, and everyone "up to date" with the tactics.
Well that about wraps it up, are there any shoutouts you'd like to make or anything else you'd like to say?
Performance: Shoutout to Dignitas' players and its sponsors ABIT, Qpad and Game-hosting. And wanna say thanks to Dignitas for giving me the great opportunity of playing in a professionel organization! I'd like to thank Performance for agreeing to answer my questions. There is also another interview up with him on the Team Dignitas Website. Good luck to Team Dignitas with their upcoming matches in TWL. They recently defeated |pixel-War| in Round 1 of the Global Crisis Tournament and are facing The Skunks in an Alliance of Mass Destruction in Round 2. We already have the predictions up for the first day of Round 2, so be sure to submit yours. |
