Found something interesting, not sure what it does:
/exec enable_art.cfg
the colouring of the game changes a bit, I'd say to a positive way.
And by the way, as some guy around here posted, try:
/exec dko5.cfg
I had like +40 fps boost, and game runs smooth like silk >.<
+by the way, I've found a command that makes the mouse a bit more alive, not sure if it's legal and what it does, but it's like:
cl_bypassMouseInput 1 (default is zero)
But this command has a problem - menu cursor disappears and you cannot move your cursor in the menu anymore, or select anything with keys/enter button. So if you're going to use it, before going into menu do a toggle bind:
is balls. Sure it gives you an fps boost but it looks shit. Controls are all f'ed up, but you can change that. For some reason the entire screen has gone up (and I changed ratio back to normal), so now I can't see my fps anymore. This is awesome.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen
Your screen has NOT gone UP. It hasnt :) Dko5 just put in a command, that moves such tools like FPS and others in the upper right corner a bit upward. Here is a cmd to correct it:
/seta cg_debugInfoCornerOffset "0 0" (dko had in his seta cg_debugInfoCornerOffset "70 -20" )
And don't you think it's amazing getting +40fps boost ? I used to run the game in 800x600 laggy fps which would drop from 70 to 40, and now I'm using 1280x1024 without a single lag ? :D And what, you mean you cannot change your screen wideness in the settings ? Are you disabled or smth ? ;DD
Mouse. By saying more alive, I mean the feeling I get in CS with the mouse. It's like...I have no sentence for that, but it seems that I can aim at every pixel, the mouse loses it's lags. Not sure if everyone gets that, but the mouse usage becomes very very FRESH.
And no, I haven't been playing with photoshop. Try it yourself. After every /quit, these settings are reset to their primeval values. And while you're in those settings, try Nightvision :P
#5? I get up @ 5 am every day, jogging, shower, teeth brush, breakfast, teethbrush, PC for an hour or so & then I am occupied by work except it's weekend have you noticed.
Getting up @ the same time and going to bed @ the same time keeps you in rhythm, happy and powerful like I am :P
#15 lower your resolution and try again. Not sure, maybe it doesnt work with other ppl setups, but the most advantageous thing I've noticed is not the ammoun of fps that I get, it's the smoothness and the thing that FPS do not drop at all.
#17, I get +5 fps with your config, but when I move around, the game is all choppy and warps. I'm getting to think* that it depends on specs of your PC and other settings, even in windows/drivers.
The thing is that dko5's cfg helps some people and therefore it's well worth trying.
Here are some more cmdz: /cg_hudGrenadeIconInScope 1 if you turn this on, while you're with sniper, zoomed in, you can see grenade indicator if one falls by you. It seems to be a legal cmd.
I've found a way how to make nades blink very fast and look like that, but theres a problem, when you connect to some servers, these commands get overwritten and cannot be used. It's really a cool feature that looks nice. It's a minor thing, but if people like it and ask for it, maybe it could be added to PAM:
with it, i get about 50-70 fp, textures at medium @ 1024X768 with a PC just above the minimum requirements of the game (2.4 ghz, 1 gb ram 333 mhz, Gforce 6800 ultra)
some noticeable changes - console color black/white - dVOUR blinking grenade (quite useful, thanks) - crap removal at short / mid / long range: all the grass, some pipes, etc are removed, so you can see nub campers hiding and other stuff. - textures @ medium quality, Trillinear filtering, and all the rest to none (no shadows, dynamic light, decals, etc). You can easily change those in the ingame settings if you have a less crappy pc than me. - CPU priority to COD4 over everything else (for those who have crap CPUs like me, get a 10 fps boost i'd say). - Maximum jump capacity (kinda, not sure, whatever who jumps anyways)
if i forgot something, just check the autoexec.cfg, all the changes are here.
edit 2: added new commands to improve even more now completely removes all decals, glow and gaz/fire effects (about 5-15 fps boost). with some Nvidia Optimizations and a hunkmegs of 512 (put 1024 if you have 2 gb of ram, and 256 if you have 512 system ram).
#32 welcome. i hope just upgraded it even more i can now reach the 100-120 fps. not really dropping under the 60 frames. (removed some decals i forgot, and some fire distortion and other crap)
hmm here's a strange thing, I don't have the hunkmegs command in my config and according to COD4 it doesn't exist (if you type it in console, it doesn't show up).
I downloaded #29's config for fun, I have 100 to 250 fps on Downpour sd, it's fun.

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen
#41 try reading the rest of what he's said u spastic and what are u moaning about all thats wrong with the config is the controls are u that lazy to change them? jesus if u had some sense you'd back - up your old cfg
And I dont think you can get your nade to follow, it's probably one of those commands that make objects BLUR within distance, and it's the base of your FPS boost, really.
What I'd really like to see now, is how does the game look (some screenshot in-fight would do) with /exec enable_art.cfg with all maxed graphics. I'm directing this at 8800gt/dual core owners, or anyone who can run it @ it's maxed max.
And I can't seem to find a cmd to remove that annoying line on the bottom of the screen which is the XP line. Anyone ? Eh, I remember how we used to remove all hud @ q3 when we had pentium2s with 486 of speed n stuff, to get every single fps needed to run faster and jump further. LOL q3 QQ.
Can somebody please sum up the most important commands to increase one's FPS?
Also, how do i create a config out of my settings? Instead of having to use a config to determine certain settings, how do i change my settings ingame and then put that in a config?
seta name "yourPRECIOUSSSname" seta cl_mouseaccel "0.05" seta sensitivity "2" seta m_pitch "0.017" seta cg_debugInfoCornerOffset "0 0" That's my setup, you can adjust it to your liking.
5) Rename the newtext.txt file to something like mybinds.cfg
6) Go in-game, at the main menu, open the console, & type /exec dko5.cfg
7) Then type /vid_restart
8) You will see how your sreen has changed. I suggest you go Options-> Graphics and change the Resolution, and Refresh rate (Hz) and possibly Aspect ratio to Auto, if you dont like the given one.
___
9) All your movement controls will be reset to dko5's setup, so after adjusting Graphics to what you want, type in console /exec mybinds.cfg.
10) Have fun. That's how I've got a nearly 40 fps boost, and made my game stable.
Written this in a very simple manner @ dignitas forums and just copy pasted here. You get the main idea - save OLD BINDS, change GRAPHICS by execing any cfg of your liking and not having trouble. Simply save personal cmd's to that mybinds.cfg, and you can try out ANY config there. There are tons of commands that you have to take into consideration, and it would probably take a lot of time picking every single one. The main ones you can find here:
FPS + movie.cfg ?
/exec enable_art.cfg
the colouring of the game changes a bit, I'd say to a positive way.
And by the way, as some guy around here posted, try:
/exec dko5.cfg

Cheers in advance.
are you mad?

a config of some IW developer/tester. Its wide screen so is fcks up your screen a bit.
or whats changing when execing the dko5.cfg?
Your screen has NOT gone UP. It hasnt :)

with the dko5 its more like 110 inside and 70 outside.
try it : http://exxee.0r.fr/COD4/config_mp.cfg

:@ :@ :@ :@ :@
Before exec'ing a config always look into it, that's what I do. It's like smelling food before eating.
@dVOUR
yep, after u load this cfg, use this commands
/r_lodbiasrigid 0
/r_lodbiasskinned 0
/r_lodscalerigid 4
and u get some fps boost
http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/7708/lol..
using dko's config with a 7600GT :p
that enabled art config thing didn't do anything different ot my game and didn't notice a difference with that mouse bypass crap either
out of curiosity what gfx card have u got dVOUR?
3000intel
1000ram

Grenade icon is smaller, but it blinks very frequently and makes it easier to spot/notice. Works 20% better than the usual 1 4 me. :d <3 it.

By the way, has anyone discovered how to remove the XP progress bar @ the bottom of the screen ? Share plz
I cant see my ammo after x seconds? any help?

edit:
i think its easier to download with the link,
http://zpliskin.com/z/configs/zconfig-cod..
edit 2:
added new commands to improve even more
now completely removes all decals, glow and gaz/fire effects (about 5-15 fps boost).
with some Nvidia Optimizations and a hunkmegs of 512 (put 1024 if you have 2 gb of ram, and 256 if you have 512 system ram).
#28 here you go:
/hud_fade_ammodisplay "0"
/hud_fade_offhand "0"
thanks i can actually play this game smooth now.
seta r_autopriority 1
#32 welcome.
i hope just upgraded it even more
i can now reach the 100-120 fps.
not really dropping under the 60 frames.
(removed some decals i forgot, and some fire distortion and other crap)
GIEF US SOME CODPROMODMATERIAL
btw add r_multiGpu 1 to your config for +5 fps
I downloaded #29's config for fun, I have 100 to 250 fps on Downpour sd, it's fun.
edit: holy **** the game looks a lot cooler with those 2 cfgs, shame the art one is full of cheat protected cmds
The enable art config seems to deffo be way better than the IW admins one :\ not sure why though.
and what are u moaning about all thats wrong with the config is the controls are u that lazy to change them? jesus
if u had some sense you'd back - up your old cfg
And where can i find that dko5.cfg in my COD4 folder? I'd like to use some of its settings for my own, but cannot find it anywhere.
@#1, used a couple of these things and the game runs really smooth, and it's got less annoying details etc, nice find ;)
And I dont think you can get your nade to follow, it's probably one of those commands that make objects BLUR within distance, and it's the base of your FPS boost, really.

Thanks

Thx!
#49, try this:
1) Find your config @ /cod4 /players /profiles /YOURPROFILENAME /config_mp
2) Open it up with WordPad, and copy all BIND commands to clipboard.
3) Now go to activision/cod4/players/ -> CREATE a newtext.txt file, open it with WordPad and PASTE all those BIND commands.
4) After PASTING all BIND commands, you will miss these
(these are how you have called your classes in-game, you can find them @ config_mp )
seta customclass1 "S.A.S"
seta customclass2 "M4 Carbine."
seta customclass3 "mP44."
seta customclass4 "MGee."
seta customclass5 "Snipar."
seta name "yourPRECIOUSSSname"
seta cl_mouseaccel "0.05"
seta sensitivity "2"
seta m_pitch "0.017"
seta cg_debugInfoCornerOffset "0 0"

That's my setup, you can adjust it to your liking.
5) Rename the newtext.txt file to something like mybinds.cfg
6) Go in-game, at the main menu, open the console, & type /exec dko5.cfg
7) Then type /vid_restart
