Hi everyone, I was just wondering if people have heard and use/understand theries on performance psychology? This topic is definatly related to games and i find its ideas/techniques very helpful. The following is a brief explaination from: http://hsc.csu.edu.au/pdhpe/core2/psychol..
------------------------------ "Psychology plays a key role in determining the level of performance in any athletic event. The major aspects of psychology that affect performance are motivation and anxiety. Strategies such as mental rehearsal, visualisation, relaxation and goal setting are useful ways to manage anxiety in performance.
For more information on motivation, anxiety and managing anxiety click on the following headings.
Motivation
Motivation is the increased state of arousal or excitement an athlete experiences when trying to reach an optimal level of performance. Motivation significantly impacts on an individual’s approach to training sessions, games and/or events.
Anxiety
Anxiety is the concern an individual experiences before a performance. Anxiety usually involves an increase in the level of arousal, however, it is often accompanied by feelings such as worry, concern, negative thoughts and feelings. Managing anxiety
A range of psychological strategies can be used to manage anxiety. To ensure that anxiety does not have an negative impact on performance, an athlete needs to learn to manage their personal anxiety levels."
----------------------- lets try to keep this thread on topic (i know its hard, even for me, lol) So you guys think this is relevant? who already uses this to help their game (or their teams game)?
Not possible with ppl like c4rlisle around. Every thread get hijacked by him arguing with everyone about how he knows more about computers than anyone else on this forum, or on the internet for that matter.
psychology plays a big part in nething we do, gaming should not be ne different. Small things that can be said before a game to each other can make a huge imapct on players keeping each other relaxed by having a laugh about something i find always helps speacially if you have just had a few bad rounds, it really picks people up. anxiety is not a nice feeling i know a few people who have this bad and they tell me it can make a huge impact on how they go about things.
In the end even though we play with five guys we are still sitting alone in a room so u have alot of time to think, and let ur mine wonder.
Oh for sure it plays an extremely huge role in how players perform and it's basically impossible to completely control. I think this is probably the reason why some clans ask for demos of a certain player before the match is even over and then sometimes the player suddenly starts to play worse; not because he turned his hacks off but simply because of what the opponent said. It's weird.

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen
i think your wrong really #10, you didnt hijack the topic without posting at all, someone just took a dig at you and the next couple of posts werent related to you in any way, the subject only became how cool you are when you posted.
What you hoping for? Some body to go 'OMFGZORES 19 FUKCIGN OWNED USE'. That's what most people who take a dig at me are hoping for. Acceptance junkies. I only the other hand don't give two shiznips what anyone thinks of me.
SO DIG AWAY FRIENDS. You will find out when you realise that I am in fact the winner, always, I win because people are so obsessed by me.
how about the psychology of shutting up all of you freaks need to go outside. #2 has real issues, if anything, carlisle actually has a clue, and you all need to learn that the internet isnt serious business http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b202/ph..
but anyway. psychological conditioning plays a key role in anything you do, its no different for games, this thread is worthless bantering and then everyone agreeing.
24. No, I come on the internet for fun. Games, fun online, we know that, what these forums are about. This forum, is for fun, annoying is what I do. I think most people will agree, I do a damn good job.
The internet is for entertainment. Whether for fun, or learning or many of its other uses. Humans are doing what humans do. Inventing things for there own amusement. However, every human is different. I find forums a lot more fun if I wind people up, rather than solely helping people. I do help people, not necessarily on these forums. But some others.
In conclusion, I use the internet mainly for my own amusement, it does amuse me. How I go about amusing myself, is up to me.
I'm serious. I wish I could sit on GotFrag so much that I have 400 posts with in a 2 month span. I assume you also frequently visit other websites, thus leading to the conclusion you spend a lot of time on your computer. There really isn't anything wrong with that, but they way you go about it is quite immature. You clearly admitted that you come on the internet looking for attention. I see you are just esc

I certainly don't come here for friends.
If I were to analyze you, I would say you use that as a scape goat for no one ever liking your opinions.
I'm sure you are just as pathetic in real life.

Grasp that and you might realise how to defeat me.

You couldn't be more incorrect. The internet IS pretty serious business. Online forums, especially this one, are not serious business.

I want your life. /sarcasm.
So much so, even carlisle isn't going to be provoked by it.
