mx518 even works fine on short carpet but probly wouldnt work out in the long term when it gets all fluffed up :(

I bought my mx518 at the same time i bought my razer mantis control, i've hadn't had any problems yet and i've had them for over 2 years.

qck+/heavy for me

i use a steelpad 5L with my mx510

Chopped up not slopped up

if you use cl_mouseaccel and overall love flicking - free-floating surface, like steelpad's 5L is awesome.
qck+/heavy or whatever kind of slowens the movements, and makes the skin of you back hand wear off lol

Mine is cloth and says Casino Queen, and I do fine. I am not sure how a mouse pad helps.

I've got an MX518 with a Steelpad 5L and all I can say is FANTASTIC !!!

Go to the a craft store and buy a plastic razor knife cutting mat. Best and cheapest mousepad you will ever own.

It's the same size as my 22" widescreen which makes my pants tight.
