Just bought new pc with some decent specs, just found out that graphics card is on board (nvidia 7050) and now in need of a graphics card which will fit and work for about £60-70, no more than £70.

These are the specs..

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor (2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
3GB Memory
Hard Drive 320GB
nVidia GeForce 7050 Graphics
20" Widescreen TFT Monitor

Format is PCI Express and DDR2 please give links from sites for graphics card within my price range and must be more than 512MB minimum.

Looking for a comfortable 125 capped fps without it dropping lower.

Thanks in advance..

PS
I have been given this link but not sure if it really any good and will fit?

said in the other thread but, gfx card memory reallly doesnt mean any thing major so dont worry about that, and also any half decent card will be fine with that processor say a 7900 gs 256 mb, and also dont use 3GB memory >.< no benefit from 2GB really just waste of cash

ROFL, 8600gt with 1024mb memory :DD It wouldn't use even half of that... And why do you want 512mb minimum? Of course, 512 mb might be good for future, but with that range of cards available for the prize, it's a waste of money... Look out for an used 8800GTS (G80 - the older one), you can get one with that prize range. That should give you 250 fps stable with that computer.

If you dont want to look out for an used card, you might want to buy a ATI HD3850. You can get one for like 90-100 euros these days, that's just a bit over 70£. That's the minimum you'll want to buy.

If you can afford an extra £20 or so, go for a 256mb 8800GT.

It's just as good as the 512MB GT, as long as you don't want to play with AA and AF on max - which no-one sensible does.

http://www.expreview.com/img/news/071119/..

Look at the top rows - they're the ones which are on the resolution you'll be playing on.

http://www.expreview.com/img/review/8800g..

3 less fps than 512mb on CoD4, no AA, no AF, 1280x1024. Remember that with a decent config that will be 125 stable.

No-one uses high graphics/AA/AF on competitive cod4, so just go for the 256mg 8800GT. Only £90, which is a bit more than you wanted to spend, but much better than the 8600GTS - 2x the fps.

Also, remember that the amount of vRAM isn't everything - look at the core clock speed, RAM clock speed, and other figures too.

Just want a graphics card on this pc at £60 and will give me 125 minimum fps just make sure it works for now and the future and would preff not go over and if there is cheaper that will do the job for my fps. Please just give me links to reliable sites such as Overclockers UK and others. Also, if there is a store which I can go and buy from like PCworld would be even better.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, well I havent had much luck with getting the components right for my PC in the past and dont want anything to go wrong. My PC settings and CPU clearly state that this is a DDR2 and I think that DDR2 card would be the best suited.

#4 I will not be using top specs anyway, I would like to use the full res on this 20" as it would look amazing and at the same time have like 125 fps but would also like the graphics and textures to be of a medium level (not low, so the game looks dire)

no, you don't want GRAPHICS DDR2. They are completely unrelated, you can run a graphics card with G(graphics)DDR3 memory on a PC using DDR2 memory. Look at my sig, I do it.

Anyway, that graphics card in #1 is dire. 1024mb of DDR2 memory still ain't gonna be good. GDDR2 memory is waaaay behind GDDR3 memory in benchmarks. The 8600GT is a pretty bad card anyway.

If you can stretch a few quid - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct..

Now, you just said you have a 20" screen. This card won't run at (I'm guessing this is your res) 1680x1050 at 125fps, but it'll get you as close as you can for the money. Don't expect miracles for £70.

If you can stretch a few more quid, then do what #4 says and get this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct..

Don't buy a graphics card from PC World. I went in there the other day and they were charging £80 for a 7600GS DDR2. I nearly cried.

I can run it on lower res but dont want it at 640x480. Just dont want to go further than £50-£60 and something for £50 would be great as I can buy it this week. Please try keep to £60 and get me the right product that will get me what I need.

Minimum Requirements in game

- Have decent set res
- Able to run on medium graphics

You wont get that with £50, sorry. You need to spend at least £70-80 with the requirements you want. Even then you are limiting yourself. Wait, earn some money from a saturday job then pay for a better quality graphics card.

Seriously, I wouldn't be saying get the 256mb 8800GT if it wasn't by far the best option.

£90 Free delivery, VAT included, much faster than the 256 8800gt. Anything slower and you're wasting money tbh and should go check ebay.

Assuming that's the 512MB GT, take off 5-10 FPS, and the 256MB still wins.

If you want AA on, get the 9600.
If you want AA off, get the 8800.

If only the 256mb 8800gt was only 5-10 fps worse than the 512 (it isn't).

#24, that's because that benchmark has 4x AA and AF.

On cod4, no AA and no AF, the 256mb is just as good as the 512.

As far as I am aware, this is the cod4 forums, and he plays cod4. Why spend extra money for nothing on cod4?

http://www.expreview.com/img/review/8800g..

Every pc is different, but it will still do what he wants, and its cheap.

The blue bars in the tomshardware benchmarks are for cod4 1280 x 1024 no aa no af.

Including p&p the 256 8800gt also costs more...even though it's inferior to the 9600gt in every way.

Not like it matters, despite the suggestions OP is probs gonna go buy his 8600 1024mb anyway lal
