what exactly do these commands do?

ok so setting "seta sm_polygonOffsetBias" and " seta sm_polygonOffsetScale" to its highest is better, ok.

what about these cvars,

seta r_polygonOffsetBias "-1"
seta r_polygonOffsetScale "-1"

i think the values for these are -16 to 0, would setting these to -16 be better or 0? default is -1 for my config.

it's -16 and -4 in my config, not blocked, though the first you mentioned in #1 are blocked

bascailly the polygon for sm (shadowmap) dont change a whole deal of stuff nothign that can really make fps any better or worse. The only ones that could change ur fps are the sm_spotshadow and two others that i forgot these change how far u see shadows from and how quick they draw, but these are cvar/dvar protected. as for the r_polygons highest is better although these do not have the same amzing effect as they did in cod2, the cod2 cmds for r_polygon have similar effects as cod4's R_lodscalerigid/skinned and r_lodbiasskinned/rigid/. Basically cod4's r_polygon arent as effective and leave them imho.

does the sm_spotshadow (value?) works either on sm_enable 1 and 0 ?
and can you check what were the other 2 sm_ cvars?

which of these cvars boost your fps ? :) tried all non cheat protected ones, no fps change

none of them have a massive increase

baiscally all of these cmds that arent cvar/dvar protected have no real use the other just draw shadows at a certain distance i messed around with them in my movie cfg and they are all dire so pointless cmds

is there any cvar that does the same thing r_polygonoffsetbias/scale did in calluvduteeh 2 ?
in cod4 i'm still seing dirty walls and s**t

this has nothing to do with polygonoffsets, but...
when i watch demos from top players i see that their recoil is much lower than mine
any tips on improving this aspect ? :d

yeh, learn to control the recoil, most guns have little to no recoil anyway

instead of holding down ur shoot button at med/long distance, just tap it really fast and you'll notice every bullet goes where u want + no recoil

recoil always looks less in demos known fact plus maybe the have a more solid fps than you either 125-250 that is the only way to lessen recoil other than that deal with it and control it like the rest of us
