First of all, my specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, MSI P7N SLI Platinum, 6GB Kingston DDR2, MSI N9600GT [N9600GT-T2D512-OC] (the Top of 96GT) and of course, Seagate SATA Drive. i'm running Vista Home Premium 64
here's my config, which is mostly based on yitch3 with only sufficient difference in textures (i use High) and screen resolution: http://russianbonsai.info/config_mp.cfg and this is where miracles begins, because with all this, i'm getting about 80FPS!!! okay yes, i'm using 1920x1200, but compared to 1024x768, it only gives me about 10-15 FPS increase, which isn't worth to bother myself with lower resolution.
- i have no background programs running like antivirus etc. take a look at the list of running programs/services: http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=gxAJLi9 - i always do defragmentation on my HDD - i don't have overheating problems (max. GPU about 55!! CPU around 50 Celsius) - i got the same problem in TF2 i can't believe the problem is in my hardware.. come on it's almost Top PC!
now, i may change my resolution to the minimum like 1024x* and get about 125FPS.. but that is bullshit! 125FPS with 9600GT and E8400.. how is that possible?
i can't submit this results, it's simply not right. Please help me to find out the problem! :'-( ...and pimp my ride
I gues its maybe driver's... and u know that card is new so wait for some updates BTW it not smart move to play with so high resolution use 1024 no need for larger
#2 it's hard to believe because i use this card since may.. almost half year. and i even begin to think to upgrade it to the new ATI.. nVidia drivers are always sucks, but not that much! :o|
and about the resolution.. i actually found it more "correct". i think it's perfect to use the resolution which is general for you monitor (i use 24' dell), since there's no serious impact on FPS, why not? but with lower resolution i got really awful picture and my mouse acting weird.. guess that's because i use 1600x1400DPI..
anyway, thank you for your reply! hope the others will follow your lead ;o)
I found out that whenever i use winamp my fps goes down from 250 to 60 or something, have no idea why's that.. tho i suppose you should ehm... tbh you should have like stable 250 with maxed up settings, so maybe reisntall would help, and maybe you should try to make your own cfg, i've heard that yitch is for low.end computers and it also might fcuk something up, so why don't you try to create a new user profile, type in console /r_drawdecals 0 /com_maxfps 250 /cg_drawfps 1 /cl_maxpackets 100 and check results, i suppose it might do the trick, otherwise there must be something else that's wrong, dunno what tho.
#5, re: I found out that whenever i use winamp my fps goes down - hmm.. i have specific sound-card - E-MU 1212m v2. will try to lower the sound settings. but i don't really believe in this..
re: you should have like stable 250 with maxed up settings ... :'-(
re: so maybe reisntall would help it's not about the game.. TF2 on Source give's me same results.. and it can't be about Vista :(
re: you should try to make your own cfg - my config is based on the original COD4 cfg. all the changes from yitch3 i made by "think-copy-paste"..
re: why don't you try to create a new user profile, type in console - ok, gonna try now.
otherwise there must be something else that's wrong - i just can't imagine what could make such interruption in the game.. you got my background running programs list, so you can see there's nothing suspicious in it.. :( ..damn, 250FPS would be amazing!
anyway, thank you for your reply. i appreciate your participation ;o)
I have the same cpu and I had only 3Fps rofl! Then I formatted and downloaded other drivers and now my fps are fine 125 constantly! And I've heard that with a E8400 the temperatures are shown always wrong! My E8400 runs with 40° celsius but I think it is like 55 or something! Try some other programms to measure the temperature. Hope it helps you... I was like OMFG wtf SH*T cod4 when I had 3fps and can't fix it :D
edit: maybe reinstall sound drivers or try flashing new bios or new motherboard drivers
OMFG! i just tried to follow konors advices and change maxfps to 250, then to 270.. now i got about 330FPS in game!!!!!!!! i never realize that this command actually cuts the FPS.. what's even more funny, i begin to pwn constantly :))
now i am only worried if my cl_maxpackets "100" is enough for 300 FPS :)
How much videoram does that 9600GT have? Too high resolutions eat videoRAM and will decrease FPS alot, that's propably why at lower resolutions you get higher FPS.
it has too much - 512. anyway it's not a problem anymore - 340FPS is more than enough ;o) i only thinking which maxpackets should i use now btw i reset maxfps to 0
