Natural Skillz

vs.
Cloud Nine

|
Two teams that faced opening week losses get matched up week 2 CEVO on mp_dawnville. Cloud Nine coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss to ENE (19-16) will look to rebound this week. Natural Skills, on the other hand, fell a couple rounds short to an up and coming Negative Image squad. Both squads will be looking for revenge and I'm sure both of them feel they should be sitting pretty at 1-0 heading into week 2. These two teams have faced each other already in COD2 in the league we all forgot about (GGL) where c9 dismantled NS 11-2 on mp_railyard. Can Natural Skillz bring enough to the table in this rematch? I highly doubt it since I've also had the pleasure of playing both squads in GGL. Let's just say c9 was 1 round away from taking us to OT while NS was 1 round away from being shutout. Easy pick for me.
PTW: Magnum and Digitek with his almost 40 bomb last week will carry c9 again.
credible's Prediction: c9 > NS 16-8
Last week, Cloud Nine lost a nail biter to a strong ENE team without much preparation. On the other hand, Natural Skillz lost to a mediocre Negative Image team 14-10. For Natural Skillz to make this close they are going to have to come into this match extremely prepared. They are going to have to have very good positions, nades, and strats because Cloud Nine simply has much more skill and they will win the clutch rounds. Look for brian/warlock/digitek/mckeld1n/mutation to have another big game and carry his team to an easy victory.
PTW: mutation, dakoda
anoxia's Prediction: c9 > NS 15-9

Deep Bananas

vs.
Last Nerve

|
Last Nerve actually won last week against Snowmen 14-10, however, due to a certain CEVO admin/player rsx whining, the match was overturned due to a dispute being made public on the CEVO forums. On the other side of the pillow you have the fan favourite Deep Bananas coming off a tough beating by the upstart Ready Up squad. Not really sure where this match has potential to go, I see DB as a team that doesn't scrimmage and prepare much yet they probably have the more talented roster. I know one thing, Last Nerve will be pissed about week 1's events and be ready for blood so you'll see a close one here I assume. Last Nerve will pull the no name upset of the week.
PTW: vexo and imp (cause he rocks my nick/alias)
credible's Prediction: LN > DB 14-10
Looking at DB's roster you would think that these guys would be a top contender in COD2, but, they don't take the game serious and rarely scrim. On the other hand, I don't recognize anybody on LN's roster. Last Nerve forfeited their week one match so that leaves some question in my mind as to whether they will prepare or even show up. They were a very active team in vCoD and the first few weeks of CoD2 but it seems real life has caught up with them. Deep Bananas should have this easy, and it could be a blow-out if honor shows up.
PTW: honor, jackson
anoxia's Prediction: DB > LN 16-8

Bring the Heat

vs.
Five 2 Go

|
Not really sure why BTH hasn't played their week one match yet, but Five2Go has picked up a 16-8 win over an unknown team that goes by the name of "Undercover Gamers". RazorRamon of Five2Go comes off a big week with a 30 bomb, but in order to beat BTH they'll need at least 2 of those in my opinion. The chances of Five2Go having two guys do that is about the same as the chance they'll have at pulling the upset. This one has blow out written all over it, however it is CEVO so can Bring the (c)heat(s) still prevail? Time will tell but certainly not in this match. Five2Go lacks the juice to pull off an upset here. Look for BTH to be well prepared and ready to go since they are probably more concerned with their CAL match against SgT and will be using this one as practice.
PTW: Razor Ramon aka Scott and somebody that cheats from BTH.
credible's Prediction: bth > Five2Go 16-8
Whoa! When did BTH get good? I remember when they were u4 in CAL-O and I taught them how to play the game. Those noobs sure do grow up fast, they have been winning LAN's and doing rather well online. Five2Go on the other hand always seems to be doing more talking then playing. Maybe if they logged off the forums for a hour and played the game this would be a good match. I don't see that happening and Bring the Heat is just too strong of a team for Five2Go to take down. Watch for televus to be holding his own with a bolt and for wurm to mow down kids with the MG.
PTW: televus, wurm, speedz
anoxia's Prediction: bth > Five2Go 16-8

Ready Up

vs.
Inevitable Demise
|
Clearly MOTW status week 2 match up. Ready Up, possibly a top 10 squad, against the overrated Inevitable Demise. Inevitable Demise have yet to be tested in COD2 with no big wins over any big name teams (don't think they have played any) and beating all the teams they should. However, Ready Up reassembled out of no where and is talked about as being the dark horse of the community. A team you would certainly not want to match up against right now. This is MOTW material because of this sole reason: it's going to put both teams to the test. With Inevitable Demise coming off a narrow victory over iov tells me they are due to lose and they just happen to draw Ready Up. Ouch.
PTW: JRoD, stoked
credible's Prediction: r^ > [id] 13-11
This has potential for MOTW. Both of these teams are rather new with absolutely stacked rosters. I have to give credit to Shady for once again making another dominate team in the CoD scene. Let's just hope this team lasts longer then the other 5 versions. Ready Up will be lead by typ and criminal while idemise will be lead by proph and wreckt. I haven't had a chance to scrim against Ready Up yet, but I have played against idemise several times and they seem to be a very off and on team. It may have just been because they didn't have their starting 5 or some other reason but my team usually ties or beats them. The thing that stands out to me from playing idemise is their good strats and amazing nades (courtesy of the guy with the protractor on his monitor aka proph). In the end, I think idemise will come out on top barely just because Ready Up came back a week ago and they probably won't have the chemistry to take down a tough idemise team. I could be wrong though.
PTW: proph, criminal
anoxia's Prediction: [id] > r^ 13-11

Unforgiven

vs.
Check-Six

|
Another top notch match-up, however I just see Carter and crew handing it to u4 in this one. Both teams are coming off 2 huge blow out wins (22-2) but both against unknowns. A 22-2 victory over any team willing to p2p is an accomplishment, however, I think u4's past schedule in multiple leagues is going to hurt them here. While x6 has already played in a couple MOTW type games, u4 has not. Unforgiven will not make this their statement game, Check Six has too many weapons such as slobbit's man boobs and a coach that rivals Phil Jackson. Check Six has Shockwave in CAL this week anyway, so they aren't even looking at u4 seriously enough to care. Even though Check Six rosters a couple shady gamers, this is CEVO so I doubt we will be seeing the second coming of iso here. Still, Check six has enough talent to possibly even make this a blow-out.
PTW: trauma and the greasiest player next to nuc, slobbit.
credible's Prediction: x6 > u4 14-10
Picking Check-Six to win this match would be taking the easy way out, or possibly the smart way. Regardless, I'm going with Unforgiven for the upset win. Both teams had huge Week 1 blowouts, and both are undefeated in CAL. Considering that mp_dawnville isn't the popular map it was in CoD1, the winner of this match should come down to preparation. Since both teams are very active, it makes it even harder to pick a winner. I think u4 wants this match more than x6 does. Check-Six has Shockwave coming up and I'm guessing that match is just more important. No one would fault u4 for losing this, but they know this is a huge match and a chance to prove themselves and I'm hoping they do.
PTW: melkor, slobbit
scott's Prediction: u4 > x6 13-11

Insomnia Gaming

vs.
Negative Image

|
I personally cannot wait for the outcome of this match. In preseason Negative Image took me into OT and I'm curious to see if they can produce a game like that against another top team. Here's their first chance against another overrated squad in Insomnia. Insomnia Gaming, yet another team plagued by inactivity, will have their hands full this week by the upstart Negative Image crew. Self hyped Insomnia-Center won't have voting to hide behind this week. However, this is a no win situation for Insomnia. If they lose it's a big upset and if they win they basically have beat an unknown squad. With a recent loss of drattus (thanks ;)), Insomnia's most active member, I just see this team being even more inactive. Even with an impressive week 1 victory over Precision, it really wasn't a surprise (without 47/miller that team is nothing). Vert and cbnz might want to scrim a little this week and stop posting articles, unless they want to be CEVO's big upset this week.
PTW: Whoever replaces drattus and MARS-gooddoc
credible's Prediction: insomina > -i 14-10
Insomnia Gaming has been getting a lot of publicity lately. Last week they absolutely massacred a strong Precision Gaming team, which everyone predicted would be close. Watch for Insomnia Gaming to have a very good CEVO season and get far into playoffs. Negative Image, on the other hand, I have not heard and they barely beat Natural Skillz for week 1. If Insomnia Gaming comes into this match prepared it will be a blow-out, if they don't it will still be a blow-out.
PTW: All of Insomnia
anoxia's Prediction: insomina > -i 20-4

Bullseye

vs.
Stream Line Gaming

|
I had to look this puppy up because I've barely heard of sL and never heard of Bullseye (except when I play darts). sL comes off a tough OT loss to verGe in week 1, while Bullseye had a cake walk against LL. In CAL sL also lost to Ploy (tough week) while Bullseye has yet to play a good team. I see this as a very boring match in terms of unknowns, however it has some good elements to make this a close one. If Bullseye actually comes away with a victory here, regardless of score, they will probably (with some more momentum) be a team you might not want to see down the road. I'm taking a shot in the dark here and going with Bullseye in OT.
PTW: sarge and bagel
credible's Prediction: Bullseye > sL 19-16
Stream Line Gaming has also been getting some attention recently, but I'm not sure how they almost beat verGe because they never impressed me in scrims. I think Bullseye is the dark horse in CEVO because they seem to be pretty active and they have the potential to cause some upsets. This is a hard match to predict because I know very little about both teams besides their record and when they spam for scrims. As long as SL comes into the match ready and they don't underestimate Bullseye then they should have this match in their control.
PTW: rabbiz, bagel
anoxia's Prediction: sL > Bullseye 13-11

Sinister

vs.
Icons of Vanity

|
I think that sinister made slashtRend quit the game last week after a 21-3 beating. GG's to teams that disappear with a loss. Sinister is going to have their hands full this week however with iov. With Icons of Vanity nearly coming off a victory over Inevitable Demise was one of the more talked about matches this past week in CEVO. Can Icons of Vanity bring that type of game to week 2? If so, Sinister's going to be in trouble. In the end, I'm thinking Sinster's going to be a little too much to handle, and even if iov has a good game they will only make the score less embarrassing. In the end this is a no-brainer and I'm picking the favourite to win
PTW: creat1on with the chams and ownhead
credible's Prediction: sin > iov 16-8
This is a great match up. Sinister destroyed a weak SlashtRend team last week, and Vanity lost a nailbiter to idemise. I'm not sure when Sinister got good, but they picked up a few good players that add a lot of depth to the roster. Creat1ion, tw|sta, and Titaan are all clutch players and can make big differences when the match is on the line. I predict sinister will take this match, unless Vanity comes in hitting all their shots.
PTW: creat1on
anoxia's Prediction: sinister > iov 15-9
