Call Of Duty: CB admin Henri "Cheets" Koskenranta Interviewed

What do you see CoD2's role in Clanbase as?

Well CoD2 is a very popular FPS game and we doneed more new games in ClanBase at the moment so that's why CoD2 needs to have a EuroCup.  CoD2 has a large community and lots of high skilled teams that want to play this game seriously, if ClanBase wouldn't offer them a EuroCup, what would they do? Change to another game or stop playing? I don't want to see quality CoD2 players move to other games! :P  So that's why I think the EuroCup has a big role especially in this game and because there are not a lot of other big money events the EuroCup gains even more value.

So do you see the future of CoD2 and ClanBase intertwined?

Well I'm not in charge of ClanBase tournaments, but I'm sure there will be an OpenCup and a Nations Cup for the game next season. As for EuroCup, well I really want to keep it for CoD2, and if we get enough cheering fans and quality teams and exciting matches I'm sure CoD2 will have a EuroCup for a long time.  The reverse is also true though and if big teams do start dropping the game then CoD2's presence at future EuroCups will not be assured.  Of course CoD2 will have a EuroCup this coming season due to the success of the last one but it will have to keep doing well to continue to feature in ClanBase's biggest cup.

What do you feel COD2 as a community needs to act on at the moment then?

Well at the moment, one problem from my point of view as a CoD2 ladder admin is that there are certain people who don't obey the rules at all. They create fun accounts and abuse the CB system with these accounts and "fun" teams.  That spoils the fun from many teams that want to play honestly and have their change in rankings.  I understand there's always need to make several clans with different friends, but there's a limit when you are honest and when you're not.  So I would like to see more players that are only playing for 1 clan that really want to make the effort to succeed. Not to make dozens of fun accounts to have some fun in ladders and then spoil fun from other people that would want to play seriously for only one clan.

With a number of different Call of Duty 2 rulesets in place right now for, example in ClanBase, CAL, CEVO and many others, do you feel the need to unify? And if so would ClanBase be willing to change their rules to fit in?

Well I think some players and teams like that there are different leagues that have different rules, for example TMGL has 1:45 round length, CB 2.00 and ESL 2.30 which makes the game different.  I guess there could be some kind of unification, but then you might lose the purpose of running different leagues and ladders.  But I do agree to an extent that we should have a basic set of rules that all leagues agree on.  We at Clanbase are always ready to listen to other groups, be they a gaming league, event or team.  We are always open for rule negotiations and suggestions and we can talk and then change the rules if everyone agrees.  Like with the EuroCup we want to make it so that the teams playing it love to play it! For the upcoming EuroCup there has already been suggestion from teams to make the switch to MR12 and now we are having a talk with all CB CoD2 admins about it.  So yes we are changing rules when people give us suggestions :)

That’s nice to hear, anything you want to say to the CoD2 community or in general?

Play fair, remember sportsmanship and don't lose your love of this great game!

Thank you for your time Henri and best of luck in your gaming career.
