EuroCup XIII champions Serious-Gaming have dropped out of this season's EuroCup due to real life obligations and lack of interest. It has just been announced on clanbase.com that the multi-national CoD2 team of Serious-Gaming will be taking no further part in this season's EuroCup. As last season's champions, Serious earned a direct invite but have decided to drop out, stating real life commitments as the reason. Apparently two of the team's older players, Crow and Mint, have a number of issues that would prevent them giving over their time to the team at present. It is also suspected that their decision could have something to do with the lack of LAN finals or prize money for this season's cup. Serious, formerly Check Six, enjoyed their finest hour at last season's finals in Arrhus, Denmark where they took down Dignitas and Speedlink to take gold and they will be a big loss to the EuroCup.Team captain, Liam "crow" Crowley gave a brief statement explaining the decision. "After a lengthy discussion last night, we have decided to drop out of this season's EuroCup due to real life commitments. In the past we have put such things aside but with no major LAN events left in 2006 and no prize money or LAN finals for this season's EuroCup we feel now is the right time to catch up so to speak and take a break. For us the most important thing is to go into events such as Playz early next year at full strength and we believe this is the best way to do that. As a team we are sticking together and you can expect to see us back in action again soon. I would like to thank the management of Serious-Gaming for their continued support and understanding and to all our supporters and friends... see you in 2007!" Entropy, a team consisting of some of Finland's best players, will be taking the place of Serious in EuroCup XIV and they will be under pressure to perform in a tough Group A. This is now the second team in this season's cup to be replaced and we can only hope it is not a sign of things to come. ClanBase have already made it clear that season XIV is somewhat of a catch up for lost time over the past few cups and with no LAN finals, prize money or qualifiers it is certainly not as attractive as last season. Regardless we can expect to see European number two team Serious back in action for the bigger events next year and it will be interesting to see how they perform after their break. Serious.CoD2 will be undergoing no lineup changes and will be sticking with the following 6 players... Crow Mint zEm Sacrim Stim Plaekki |
