Call Of Duty: Team Pandemic: CyberHub Champions!

Hackett: Many people had their doubts about Team Pandemic after your performance in CEVO-P and absence from SOTF8. Did you ever for a moment think that your team might never secure another CoD2 championship?

Nabore: I knew that once we got the roster back in order and made a practice schedule that made sense, we can accomplish anything we put our minds to.  Our absence from SOTF8 was simply an example of how I will not let my team enter an event I know we cannot prepare for.  With the right motivation from Pandemic and the LAN event, we have found a reason to continue our hard work into 2007, and we expect good results because of this.

CyberHub ’07 LAN was the largest event Call of Duty 2 has seen in North America. How does it feel to have traveled through a field of 20 teams without so much as losing a match?

It feels amazing.  I could not have asked for anything more from my guys.  They all played incredible when needed to and got the job done.  Our teamwork was unheard of, reaching a level that I have never seen before in our online environment.

The day before the event, stories were flying about how Pandemic was at another LAN center practicing. Evidently, the practice paid off. What was Pandemic’s practice schedule like coming into the event? By the time your team arrived at the center, was the team’s expectation anything less than first?

We prepared for this event almost twice as hard as any other event we participated in, and for good reason.  We put in at least 3+ hours a night 5/7 days a week in preparation for this event.  We took Friday to head out to web2zone to get some quiet practice in.  We knew the CyberHub center was going to be packed and getting the right practice in would be slightly difficult.  Someone at web2zone was probably downloading every file on the Internet, because the connection was unplayable and we had to resort to 3v3 HQing, to get our LAN aim down.  Our expectation was to finish 1st.  We knew we could pull it off with the amount of time we put into our schedule, and we felt confident the whole way through.

Whenever Pandemic was matching during the day people were in the other room spectating on the projection TV, and we witnessed too many amazing shots to keep track. What particular round, shot, or match was it, would you say, that really had you feeling that your team was going home with the top prize?

The shot that took me out of my seat was in the finals match on defense when Steve killed two people with a scope through full blown smoke through the arches fence into the Church exit to rubble.  It was one of the most random things I have ever witnessed and probably demoralized rSports so bad.  Something like that really takes the momentum out of you, and I knew we had to capitalize on it.

This was the first time that Team Pandemic has lanned CoD2 with a full roster, should we expect to see more of you guys in the future?

Definitely, we plan to attend any LAN that comes up in the future with the same roster that attended this one.  We are fully dedicated to CoD2 for all of 2007 and hope the game gets the chance it deserves at a major event.

It’s always nice to see a high-level team returning to top shape. Good job on the championship, and good luck in the future. Thanks for the interview.
