After the news that Liam "crow" Crowley will not be playing actively due to real life commitments, last season's EuroCup champions have announced a new-look Swedish lineup for 2007. ![]() After a successful year, Serious-Gaming have just announced a number of changes to their Call of Duty 2 squad. Team captain Liam "crow" Crowley will be going inactive while Sami "Sacrim Nieminen and Otto "Plaekki" Kuisma will be leaving the team. This leaves Martin "mint" Röjder and Rickard "zEm" Intveld from the existing lineup and together they will form the basis for a new all-Swedish lineup. Serious have picked up three Swedish players from one of the most impressive new teams of 2006, Fukyuu. Wnkr, Stoplskott and Stoffey impressed at the recent WonderBase event where they held Dignitas to a draw among other good results and will join up with Mint and zEm in Serious. Crow will also stay in the Serious organisation but is unable to commit to regular practice due to real life commitments over the next few months. Serious took the scene by storm in September of 2006, beating Dignitas and Speedlink to life the EuroCup XIII trophy in Aarhus, Denmark and the onus is now on this new team to live up to their high standards. Stefan Timmermans, the team's manager, gave the following statement to serious-gaming.com. "With this new all-Swedish lineup we have faith that they will show some great results in the future. The players from the former Fukyuu lineup showed their qualities, and together with mint and zEm they go for gold! We are also happy with Crow staying as coach and he will support the team in any way." New team captain Martin Röjder also added a few words on the news. ![]() "At the end of last year we decided as a team to begin practicing for the events of 2007 with the same lineup we had at the EuroCup XIV LAN Finals but after we heard that Liam (crow) was going to have to go inactive due to real life commitments we felt the time for change was upon us. This change has resulted in us going back home to try to find the best possible all-Swedish lineup. The players we felt best matched us and the team we wanted to build were wnkr, stolpskott and stoffey, in our opinion very capable and talented players. With this new lineup we will start over from scratch, although we all know and have played with each other for a long time. We would like to thank Serious-Gaming for continued confidence in us and also of course the other players who have been a part of Serious-Gaming in 2006, Sacrim, Plaekki and Stim. With the help of the management team we have here we believe we have the opportunity to achieve our full potential and do very well in 2007. Also Crow will stay active as a person that will help us with issues in and around the team, for us an invaluable resource." The new-look Serious lineup for 2007 is as follows. Martin "mint" Röjder Rickard "zEm" Intveld Peter "wnkr" Weistedt Henrik "stolpskott" Berg Kristoffer "stoffey" Lee Liam "crow" Crowley (inactive) |
