Dignitas, Reason and uMu are all set to feature in the Intel Core 2 Extreme Challenge, a £3,000 tournament for UK and Irish teams. ![]() With Multiplay's i30 now behind us, the focus of the UK Call of Duty 2 scene shifts over to the Intel Core 2 Extreme Challenge. The tournament will feature 48 teams in total, with 8 groups of 6 in the group stages. The top two teams from each group will progress to the playoffs, with £3,000 ($5,900) then up for grabs. Digntias, Reason and uMu are of course present as well as a number of up-and-coming UK sides like frantiC, who took 4th place at i30. Games start on Thursday 12th April with coverage provided by RadioITG so stay tuned for full fixtures and broadcast details. You can view the full group listings here. Prize Money: 1. £1500 2. £750 3. £500 4. £250 You can also read the Intel C2E pro panel's views on the groups, including those of former EuroCup champion Liam "crow" Crowley, on the tournament website here. Below is a short extract from the CoD2 groups analysis: "Each group looks very competitive but Group 5 in particular looks like it's going to go right to the wire. FrantiC and Reason will go head to head once more and Rich and his FrantiC team will be looking to avenge their 13-5 defeat in the i30 semi finals. Reason went on to take second place, losing 2-1 on maps to Dignitas in the final, but rumours of dissent are already emerging from the Reason camp. FrantiC should provide a stiff challenge to the team ranked 2nd in the UK and this could be the perfect chance to pull off a surprise victory." |
