CEVO CoD4 Season 1 - Registration Opens - $5,000 Prize Pool

CEVO is pleased to announce the opening of registration for our very first season of Call of Duty 4. Season 1 features $5,000 in guaranteed cash and prizes for teams competing across the various skill divisions.

The regular event membership fee for Season 1 is $20 USD per player for both skill divisions. However, any player who registers by 11:59 PM PT Sunday, January 13th will receive a discounted early bird rate of only $15 USD. Players may register for Season 1 without already being on a team.

ALL teams will be able to reserve premium quality game servers for their matches, courtesy of NuclearFallout, and will also be eligible for a FREE NationVoice ventrilo server!

Registration for CEVO Call of Duty 4 Season 1 will open on Monday, January 7th at midnight and remain open until Sunday, February 3rd at midnight.

How To Register:

All players will need to register a personal CEVO user account to participate in CEVO events. If you do not already have one, click "register now" under the CEVO Members section of the website and follow the instructions.

Team Captains:

The Team Captain or Manager is responsible for registering their team for the event. Captains who have already created a team for another CEVO Call of Duty 4 event do not need to create a new team - you can simply join this event with your current team. To sign your current team up for this event, login to your personal user account then go to "teams"->"view my teams" (or click "Manage My Teams" on the main account page). Click on the "manage" link corresponding to your team and then click "Sign Team Up for a CEVO Event".

If you are a Team Captain needing to create a team, login to your personal user account then go to "teams"->"create a team" (or click "Create a Team" on the main account page).

Once the team is created/registered for the event, each team member may join the roster by logging into their personal user account on the website and clicking “Join A Roster”.

Team Players:

In order to join a roster, your team captain must have already registered your team for this event. Once that is done, to join the roster, login to your personal user account and click "teams"->"Join a Roster" (or simply click "Join a Roster" on the main account page).

On the Join Roster page, choose this event from the drop-down menu, then type all or part of the team name and click "Find Team". When the search finishes, click the "join" button corresponding to your team.

When you join a roster for a paid event, if you have not already paid your event membership fee, you will be prompted for payment. CEVO accepts VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, e-Check, or PayPal payments. All online payments are processed through PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account to pay with a credit card through PayPal. If you would like to pay with a mony order, please contact CEVO support for instructions.

To pay for a teammate’s account, please do so by logging into their personal account, or contact support for help.

Paying in Advance:

Players wishing to pay their event membership fee prior to joining a roster may do so at any time. Simply log into your personal user account and choose "join event" from the menu, or click "Register for an Event" on the main account page. From there you may choose the desired game and event from the options listed. Once your payment has been processed, you may join a roster any time prior to the start of the season as well as during roster unlock periods once the season has started.

Event Details:

The event will consist of two skill divisions, Amateur (CEVO-A) and Professional (CEVO-P).

The Amateur Division (CEVO-A) is open to any team and is divided into three conferences: Atlantic, Central, and Pacific. Teams will be competing for $1500.00 in cash and sponsored prizes. There will be one match per week in this division and the Match Deadline Day is Thursday of each week.

CEVO-A is designed specifically for new and experienced teams seeking serious competitive play.

The Professional Division (CEVO-P) will host the 16 most talented teams in North America, as determined by our Professional Placement Tournament or earned incumbancy from the Finish The Fight FREE CoD4 Tourney. The Professional Division has only one National Region. Teams will be competing for a whopping $3,500.00 in guaranteed cash! Pro teams will play two matches per week on Monday and Thursday nights.

More information on the Professional Placement Tournament will be posted shortly.

raise entry fee and don't raise prize pot?

if 100 teams of 5 players register that's 10,000 dollars and i'm being very conservative on the 100 team estimate and most if not all teams will have more than 5 players... so what does cevo do with the extra 5-10++ grand they make off these? not to mention cevo-A and cevo-P SPLIT the 5K. what a racket

and when's the last time CMN caught some one cheating?

I never once felt cheated in COD2 so i cant really comment on the CMN thing. However the prizepot should be raised pending how many teams sign up.

Thank you for the lesson in basic math, however I think that you are failing to see the overall picture so please let me help clarify your misconceptions.

While it would be nice to say that every dollar CEVO generates goes directly into the prize pot .. that is not how it works ... Prize pots are determined a number of ways and I hope you can keep in mind that we GUARANTEE the pot regardless of the turnout. Look at the BIG PICTURE ... CEVO distributed over $100,000.00 in prize money in 2007.

I think that you are also failing to realize that CEVO is a business ... like all businesses in the world there has to be something called a profit margin so that we can stay in business. I understand that can be a complicated and daunting thing to comprehend, but yes we have bills to pay, and that while having all monies taken in getting turned around and distributed out as prize pots ... reality is that can not happen.

Next item: If 100 teams sign up for a CEVO CoD4 event ... then you will see an increase in the prize pot, but before that occurs there needs to be 100 teams participating in the event. So lets get to that number before you start throwing arbitrary dollar amounts around.

As to the second part of your comment about the CMN not catching people ... I have to assume you are just making this statement to fire up the community as I assure you the CMN is catching people and will continue to .. I know that many people want CEVO to publish a list of all the cheaters we catch, however I do not believe in that practice as we need to focus on the positives not the negatives of gaming.

But just as an FYI ... the most recent name added to the list.

ehhh the owner of cevo and the top few are still bankrollin while the bottom admins only get a couple hundy tossed to em.. dont see why u defend that

and CMN does nothing... wish i had come up with the idea of an out of game ready up system that does nothing but catch half life cheaters and not quake engines then charge people to enter that league and take 75% of the money and pocket it

at the end of the day though... like Jay-Z says "can't knock the hustle"

Its like what roger rabbit once said
