Call Of Duty: PAM4.00 Final Release

By: Liam Crowley - Published January 09, 2008 at 7:44 PM EST - Writer Archive
CoD modding expert bullet-worm has announced the first full release of PAM4.
Six betas later, PAM4 has come a long way and it is finally ready for a non-beta release. Final changes include the addition of in-game timeouts, the ability to remove a number of ambient effects and general increased functionality. You can download PAM4.00 below and server admins are reminded that they will have to replace the mod.ff file on their server during installation.

One point of note with PAM4.00 is bullet-worm's decision to no longer allow others to edit settings and features in the mod. "Due to the nature of what PAM4 is used for (competition), I cannot release what I am doing internal to PAM4 to the general public any longer" explains the 33 year old Texan modder. "While I would like to share my work and progress with the modding community, I simply cannot make it easy for script-hackers to modify the scripting in such a way to provide an undetectable home field advantage".

This news leaves the future of projects such as PAMD in jeopardy and is likely to be met with disappointment in certain circles. In the past, new developments and game-changing improvements have been pushed through by independent modders working on bullet-worm's foundations and the current situation would no longer allow that. It could be argued, however, that this disadvantage is offset, as bullet-worm mentions, by the fact that league admins can now be 100% sure that no team can edit their server mod files to gain an unfair advantage.
