Call Of Duty: Kojak controversy, CoD squad departs

By: Liam Crowley - Published January 13, 2008 at 12:40 AM EST - Writer Archive
Kojak's recently announced Finnish Call of Duty 4 squad have departed and will, for now, be playing under the name "Da Imperial Executors" once more.
Fake sponsorship contracts and the bizarre disapperance of Kojak manager Patrick Colic appear to have been the reasons behind the decision but other than stating that they have quit the team, the players themselves have declined to comment. Antti "ana" Pessinen has said the team will be making an announcement on their new plans some time next week.

Team manager Stuart "TosspoT" Saw did, however, reveal to GotFrag his side of the story. Saw had originally joined Kojak as a general manager and was described as "instrumental" in the addition of the DIE CoD4 squad to the team. He has since resigned from his position after losing faith in the funding and sponsor support the team were claiming they had secured.

"We knew at the start that this was a gamble" admits Saw, "I sent the sponsor's contract to the guys and said look, this could be fake or it could be the jackpot, do you wanna take the risk? - The answer was yes, the dice were rolled and we got snakeyes. Such is life, you live you learn, I can't say I'm not pissed off, but I think the team will bounce back, they are a quality lineup and they will succeed elsewhere"

"The other manager, Patrick Colic, did an excellent job of producing a legitimate looking contract from a German clothing company called Jack Wolfskin, then magically he has been taken ill and is now in hospital, but does (frequently) occasionally get to use the hospital wifi and keep up with the team."

The team had been promised funding for CDC4 but it soone became clear that this was going to be an issue. "Firstly [Colic] said he had the money , then he said he sent it back , then he said it'd be transferred to another manager who never got the money" Saw continues. "Now that the bubble has been burst and it has become public knowledge, he has threatened the call the police on those who have made this public".

Saw has now vowed to help DIE find a new home ahead of CDC4. "I'm going to try and get them into a good home because even though I was fully honest with them, I feel they've been cheated and I want to help. I can't promise that I can deliver, but I've certainly tried to help get them to CDC".

Now playing under the name of DIE once more, the former Kojak squad have made no changes.
