Call Of Duty: deny joins Team EG

Amidst the start of CEVO-P playoffs and ongoing roster drama with Nexus, deny has switched camps and joined Evil Geniuses.
Less than twenty-four hours ago, Nexus Gaming announced the addition of Josh “gladia7or” Adams as an insurance replacement and rotational fifth pending Muse’s CEVO playoff performance. It is time to start collecting on that insurance. In a surprise move only moments ago, Evil Geniuses released Casey “maven” Capp and have filled his position with none other than Adam “deny” Phan, formerly of Nexus. Rumors were circulating in recent weeks that offers of this nature were being made but it appeared up until the last minute that deny was content to stay with nXs. However, like Vito Corleone to the band leader, it appears EG made deny an offer he could not refuse. EG team leader Mark “wombat” Larsen comments: “We’re thrilled that Adam has decided to join up with us. We feel that Adam will play an important role in our team’s future success and we’re eager to start playing alongside him.”

Nexus have been one of the most successful teams so far in CoD4’s brief tenure and it has a lot to do with their team chemistry. Evidence of this chemistry’s deterioration was presented when Muse first learned that he had to compete for a spot and now it has come to a head with deny deciding to part ways. When asked about his decision to join Evil Geniuses, deny explained: “It was a very tough decision to part ways with neXus gaming, but ever since the opportunity arose to play with the docs, it felt like the right thing to do for me personally as a player. I am happy with my decision.”

Many pieces come into play which makes this situation particularly interesting. As if the business concerning Muse and gladia7or is not enough, consider the fact that both EG and nXs are currently two of six teams competing in the CEVO-Professional playoffs. What’s more is that the winner of EG vs. Guardians advances to match Nexus! Seeing as CEVO rosters finally actually did lock before playoffs began, neither team can make use of their recent acquisitions for the remainder of season one. In light of deny’s departure from the team, Muse has stated “deny was the only member to be completely honest and explain everything to me personally. As a result of deny leaving for greener pastures, I no longer see a reason to stay with the team that could not be honest with me in person." It will be interesting to pay attention to how things turn out for both clubs as CEVO finishes up and we move into TGL and the summer LAN season. Without deny or Muse on board for the remainder of playoffs, Nexus will be forced into using both of their backups, ksun and nova, if they wish to avoid forfeiture.

EG Roster:

 Chris “ntt” Gillett
 Ted “wiseguy” Georgoudakis
 Rob “rob-wiz” Kennedy
 Adam “deny” Phan
