Call Of Duty: A look at CoD5

The weapons are also setup the same as the prior version. Once a weapon is unlocked, there are challenges for each weapon in order to unlock additional items for that weapon. Primary weapons are split up into the following categories: Bolt Action Rifles, Rifles, Submachine Guns, Shotguns, and Machine Guns.

Those of you who loved how the bolts dominated the first two versions of the game are going to be sorely disappointed here. The game so far has been dominated by the submachine guns and machine guns. The bolts now serve the purpose of the games sniper rifles, as they can be fitted with scopes.

Primary Weapons
Bolt Action Rifles
Springfield
Arisaka
Mosin-Nagant
Kar98k
RTRS-41

Rifles
SVT-40
Gewehr 43
M1 Garand
STG-44
M1A1 Carbine

Submachine Guns
Thompson
MP40
Type 100
PPSH-41

Shotguns
M1897 Trench Gun
Double-Barreled Shotgun

Machine Guns
Type 99
BAR
DP-28
MG42
FG42
Browning M1919

Each of the other weapon categories have items to unlock which aid in their functionality, whether it be bayonets, suppressors, new sights, or barrel clips to name a few. With the beta XP locked at 45, it is still too early to start saying which weapons will be useful in the competitive sense or if the flamethrower which has been given a ton of marketing will even be useful.

Side Arms
Colt M1911
Nambu
Walther P38
Tokarev TT-33
.357 Magnum

Grenades
In addition, Treyarch has included items which might not have made it into the game, but act as World War II era replacements for similar ones found in Modern Warfare. They include Bouncing Betty's (Claymores), Satchel Charge (c4 explosives), Signal Flare (Flash Grenade), and Tabun Gas (stun grenade).

Primary Grenades
N◦ 74ST
Molotov Cocktail

Special Grenades
Smoke
Tabun Gas
Signal Flare

Available Beta Maps
Makin
Castle
Roundhouse

Coming to the PC version for the first time is a friends and parties system. Players must make unique player names, which other players can then add to their friends list.

On a side note, the voice acting seems kind of weird, especially the Russian and Japanese ones. For the marine side, you will be hearing Keifer Sutherland narrate out everything, which actually isn't half bad. But switch to the other teams and you are gonna hear some really bad interpretations of foreign accents.

Another big issue is the abuse of prone. Just from playing a few hours of the beta, it is clear that binding prone to right click or something similar is going to become incredibly annoying. The shooting delay after going prone is way too short so when you are in a close firefight, its pretty commonplace for the enemy to just drop down and frag you from the floor.
