Matthew "ChimPae" Gomez takes a look at the first round of matches in the GotFrag CoD4 Tournament.

(GotFrag) - Finally, Gamebattles /GotFrag have been able to mark the start of this Call of Duty 4 competition for the community. To the surprise of many, we see three top European teams competing. They are Fnatic, Team Coolermaster, and ATS, now known as exabyte. Luckily for us North Americans, most of the talented teams are competing to represent the USA.

You will see top competitors such as Pandemic, x3o, MoBgaming, Pure-Esports, among others. On the other hand, to the surprise of many, some CEVO-P teams have decided to not honor us with their presence, HostileFaction, backslash, and pushing the limits, all of which are Canadian based and not attending. Now off we go to a quick breakdown of this long awaited event.

United States Pandemic
United States TEAM OMNI eFFECTS
United States Revolution Sports
United States Dynamic
United States We Are Scientists
United States Practice
United States MoBdeep

Bracket Portion A is home to the #1 seeded Pandemic as well as fellow CEVO-P teams Dynamic (#9) and MoBdeep (#8). Round 1 in this part of the bracket I see no upsets happening, meaning Pandemic should be able to get out of it without too much trouble. Their most difficult match will most likely be against the winner of the probable match between Dynamic / MoBdeep.

United States Frag Dominant
United States Arcane
United States imaginary sponsor
United States Avidity Gaming
United States 08'Lions
United States Bullet Proof
United States fluency
United States MoB Gaming

Bracket Portion B has its fair share of known teams with Frag Dominant and MoBgaming. Here though, I see a little more competition coming from the lower seeded teams such as Avidity Gaming and 08' Lions. I still see no surprise in this portion besides maybe Avidity pulling a close match on Frag Dominant. Quarterfinals for this tournament in this upper bracket I see as Frag'd vs MoBgaming, with more than likely MoBgaming pulling it out.

United States x3o
United States Team Believe
United States Royal Gaming
United States NRdeep
United States Deviant Gaming
United States TEKnicality
United Kingdom ATS.XLBET

x3o shouldn't have much of a problem in bracket portion C, but the biggest question would be ATS and how they will deal with their high pings in NA servers. The possibly biggest black horse in this event though resides in Nrdeep, a team that is filled with talented players, but little to no dedication to compete at a high level. The quarterfinals in this part will likely be x3o vs NRdeep/ATS.

Sweden fnatic.msi
United States Team-Above
United States Team Grey Mattter
United States Team-Coolermaster
United States Team Precision
Colombia oRtonators
United States Pure E-Sports

Lastly part D is home to two of the three European teams and possibly the hottest team at the moment, Pure-Esports. Again, the biggest question mark in this is how the Europeans adapt. Without a doubt I don't see pure getting eliminated in either of the first 2 rounds, but I see them having a good match in the 3rd round against either of the European teams or possibly the Canadians at team-above.

Darkhorse: NRdeep

More than likely a North American team will be the favorite to walk away with the $1000 1st place price, but weirder things have happened and who knows how the Europeans will play. Good luck to all teams and may the best team win!
