I see many threads, about the same issues everyday, and the FAQ pinned right now seems to be lacking. We have all made them, but many of the same questions are being repeatedly asked. By making this I hope to eliminate some of these threads. I will edit as needed.
(1) Q: What is the best resolution to use? A: There simply is none. It is all preference, but the three most commonly used resolutions are
640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768. Just simply use what you're comfortable with, because really only you know. Don't just use a resolution because your favorite pro uses it.
(2) Q: What is the best sensitivity? A: This is again preference. Most players use something between 2-4. Many many factors contribute to sensitivity, like your mouse pad, mouse, DPI etc. Use what suits you best.
(3) Q: What are the Noforce commands and what do they do? A: The three noforce commands are "noforcemaccel" "noforcemparms" "noforcemspd" These are all enabled from the launch options. If you want to add them, simply go to steam, then "my games." Next right click on Counter-Strike, and then properties --> launch options. In there you can set them. Just add a - then the command. So if I wanted to set noforcemaccel and noforcemparms I would put "-noforcemaccel -noforcempamrs" without the quotes into the launch options. Next time you load Counter Strike these options will automatically take effect.
noforcemaccel - Uses desktop mouse settings. This makes it so half life doesn't try to manage mouse acceleration.
noforcemparms - Uses desktop mouse button settings. Turns off the feature which lets you reassign keys already assigned on desktop.
noforcemspd - Uses desktop mouse settings like speed.
(4) Q: What is the best Mouse DPI? A: Quoted from Drax. "if you use high sensitivity, high dpi is good for accuracy. if you use low sensitivity, low dpi is good for tracking. if you try to use high dpi with low sens, you will get negative accel effects. if you try to use low dpi with high sens, your aim will seem to skip and not be fluid.
moral of the story: high dpi for high sens. low dpi for low sens."
(5) Q: What is the CPL Mouse Fix? Where Can I get it? A: The CPL Mouse Fix is a file which edits the registry, and takes off mouse acceleration. This means your mouse will always move the same amount of degrees from A to B, no matter how fast you move it.
(7) Q: What is the best mouse pad? A: Preference. Some commonly used ones are QcK+ and Steelpads though. Try them and use what best suits you.
(8) Q: What are the best rates? A: For Lan 25000, 101, 101, 0.01. For pub servers use the highest value you can without getting choke. As for interp, 0.1 is considered cheap by many, because the hitbox is very lenient. You can trail people by a large amount and still register. I guess it comes down to you personally. The CPL GUI, and ESEA Clients etc all lock it to 0.01.
(9) Q: I am getting low FPS, how do I fix this? A: Your computer may have specs that are subpar for what is needed to run counter strike at 100 fps. But there are also many other issues that can cause you to get low FPS. Try this guide here written by Dagley
(10) Q: What is hertz? How can I adjust my hertz? A: Hertz are how many times your monitor refreshes itself every second. If I have 150 hertz, my screen refreshes itself 150 times a second. You can adjust your hertz through your launch options (-freq #), or with a program with I consider to be much easier, REFORCE!
WARNING: Adjusting your monitor's hertz too high can cause serious damage. Only use what is safe for your monitor.
(11) Q: My LCD will only go to 60 Hertz, 75 Hertz etc. Why is this? A: Yes, most LCDs are capped at a very low hertz. But with LCDs response time is more important.
(12) Q: What is vertical sync? A: Vertical Sync is a feature which makes it so that your screen and video card render frames at the same time. So your fps in other words never goes above your hertz. Most people prefer it off. IMPORTANT NOTE: Many people with low hertz, say 60, think that by turning Vertical Sync off, that if in CS it says 100 FPS they are getting that. THIS IS FALSE. Let me explain it out a little bit. FPS = Frames per second, in other words how many individual frames per second you're seeing. Hertz are how many times your screen can refresh a second. So if your screen cannot refresh enough times per second to display 100 frames, you will not get 100 fps, EVEN IF IT SAYS YOU ARE.
(13) Q: LCD OR CRT? A: Most gamers prefer CRTs, because they get higher hertz, but with LCDs response time is more important.
(14) Q: I suspect someone is cheating, how can I tell? A: Firstly, DO NOT GO DOWNLOAD HACKS YOURSELF. Even if the intention is not bad, you put yourself at risk of getting your account banned by HL Guard and VAC. Use a program called X-Spectate.
(15) Q: What is the best interp? A: See #8, it contains the answer.
(16) Q: What is the best crosshair size, color etc? A: There is no best crosshair size! Each crosshair has its pros and cons, many find large easier to spray with, and small easier to burst with. Others find large better for bursting and spraying, and even many also think medium is overall the best. CONCLUSION: Pure Preference! As for color, use something that is easy to see. Green, Yellow and Blue work nice.
(17) Q: What is cl_dynamiccrosshair? A: Dynamic crosshair is a setting which when enabled adjusts your crosshairs size depending on what you do. While running it gets bigger, while crouching it gets small to be precise. Almost all pros prefer it off, because for most people all it does is make it more difficult for quick precise aim. My suggestion is to use cl_dynamiccrosshair 0.
(18) Q: I have 1.6, and it uses CZ models. How can I get the 1.6 models back? A: A complete guide to your question can be found here.
(19) Q: How can I make it so that I only see one model per team? / How can I make it so I see all of the available models? A: The answer lies in a command called cl_minmodels. cl_minmodels 0 sets it so you see all the models, while cl_minmodels 1 sets it so you only see one model per team. Many people find it easier to quickly identify people who are enemies and people who are friends with cl_minmodels 1.
(20) Q: My custom settings keep getting overwritten. How do I get them to stay? A: You need a file called a userconfig. Open up notepad, and stick your custom settings in there, such as rates, and custom aliases. Then go to file --> save as. Set the "save as file type" to "all files" and then name your file "userconfig.cfg" Save this file to your cstrike directory and next time you boot up Counter Strike it will automatically execute, and your custom settings will still be there.
(21) Q: How do I get bots? A: There are many bot programs out there. I'd recommend zbots. They work well and are quite customizable.
#2, I think in the end it will pay off. I also added the rest of the guide, for some reason it said it had banned terms if I tried to post the full thing, but in segments worked fine.. never changed a word.
Anyway, I think it will eliminate some of the redundant threads, and that would make it worth it :)
Actually, do a guide on something like where to get bots with deathmatch and things like that, becuz the people who ask the questions about sensitivity, res etc. are the retards who wanna make a useless thread or dont wanna use search button so they will never see this :(

Me too!

How do I get rid of Condition Zero models on my copy of 1.6?
At the very least people can link to this when a question gets asked, and it saves the author from flames, and the person replying some time.
