I never cared about my 60fps in cs, but I want to change it. So I put V-Sync off and I get 100fps. But now, with 100fps (99 to be accurate), the screen is schokking a lill bit. Just like I have a little bit of lag. Wich is annoying and not OK
if you are running on 75 herts on your monitor then your ingame fps should be placed at fps_max 76. It's smoother than if you were to put 101 because your ingame fps responds better to what your desktop is running at.
Yeah I've changed it to fps_max 75, but the choke has just disapeared a litlle bit I even changed cl_cmdrate to 80 and cl_updaterate to 30/80/75 but the choke is still there :/
The only way to achieve 100 fps; true 100 fps, is to:
Monitor = CRT capability to get 100 hertz or more. Graphics card capable to handle the gameplay. fps_max 101 cl_cmdrate 101 -freq 100 V-Sync can be turned on or off, DOESN'T matter. V-Sync 'on' makes the textures perfect without tearing.
Btw, the choke only happens when your monitor can't display 100 fps and it's only showing 60 hertz/fps.
#23 has it. these kids think they know so much about the game but if you actually play with anything lower than fps_max 101 you are just handicapping yourself...the game feels so much better EVEN ON 75HZ if you're at 100 fps instead of 75.
of course, though, 100/120Hz is the preferred option but if that is unavailable then vsync off @ 100 fps will do the job just fine.
i've played on an old ass monitor with vsync off @ 100 fps on 75Hz, a newer monitor that can get 100/120 Hz @ 100 fps w/ vsync off, and an LCD @ 75 Hz with vsync off and 100 fps. the tearing effect you get is not that bad...you'll get used to it in a day or so and learn to ignore it and the trade-off is much better than not having 100 fps at all...feel free to try whatever you want but i and a ton of others i'm sure will tell you that the best scenario is to have 100 fps no matter what your monitor Hz is at. yes the Hz matters and you won't truly have 100 fps but the fact that the game is running at 100 fps just gives it a better feel even if you can't see all the frames it is producing.
You CAN'T PLAY WITH 100 FPS MAX WITH LCD MONITOR LOWER THAN 100 HERTZ.
You cannot play with 100 fps if your monitor can't render it because YOU'RE PLAYING WITH 60 FPS OR W/E YOUR MONITOR CAN HANDLE. 60 hertz, 70 hertz, 100hertz, 120hertz etc.
Here's an example:
Your monitor is LCD, it can only go as high as let's say, 75 hertz. You go onto console in CS and type in fps_max 101 cl_cmdrate 101. Your net_graph WILL say 100 fps, but your monitor will not render 100 fps because it can only be set to 75 hertz. That's the reason you get that choke like movement when you move your crosshair.
Typing -freq 100 won't help, and might cause more damage than good to your monitor.
If you have a monitor that can't go any higher than it tells you, keep it at w/e "highest" hertz possible.
#25 is just repeating what he's been told so he can try to sound smart...but he's clearly never played 1.6 with 75 fps on 75 Hz vs 100 fps on 75 Hz. the difference is so obvious...
i even said you won't see all 100 frames, it isn't possible by any means. you will see 75, that is true, but your video card will be rendering 100 per second, making the game FEEL SMOOTHER. it may not look smooth (because there will be the tearing effect) but the game is much more enjoyable to play. trying to spray on 75 fps is way too aggravating to enjoy the game, where as spraying on 100 fps on 75 Hz is a little less aggravating...but still not quite as nice as 100 Hz.
go ahead #25, keep making yourself look dumb.
@#1: you are seeing a tearing effect. many people play with the same thing you're getting (looks like a horizontal-ish line across your screen every few seconds right?) but it's not harmful to anything and like i said, the trade-off of having that tearing effect is much better than having vsync on with 75 fps.
60fps beter than 100
What's wrong?
cl_updaterate 101
Rate 25000
Resolution: 800 x 600
Samsung Syncmaster 740BF @ 75Hz = 17"
ntel E6600 @ 2.4GHz / 2 Gig RAM / nVidia GEforce 7900GT
I really have no idea, I already looked up what the problem could be but still haven't found a thread significant to my problem

100 hertz = 100 fps

putting -freq 75 in the launch options will give you 75fps with v-sync ON and it will look a lot smoother if you have it off using 100fps
Monitor = CRT capability to get 100 hertz or more.
Graphics card capable to handle the gameplay.
fps_max 101
cl_cmdrate 101
-freq 100
