I look at it this way. The U.S has a weird playing style/strats compared to the EURO's, so when they battled it out they were confused. It's like playing CAL-I all your life then one day you scrim an open team, they call the most random strats ever and you lose.
#7 since when did cal-invite players lose to cal-open...?
Get over it, EG played well and beat fnatic, just because they played SLIGHTLY different doesn't mean that it's okay for the "#1 team in the world" to lose. EG deserved this victory especially after the negativity they received from this community about how they would have no chance against VP and Fnatic, about how they wouldn't be able to win internationally, and about how they could never compare to coL or 3D.
Congrats to EG.usa they have been training really hard and deserve this.
yes great way to think of it #8. im sure virtus will agree with you that it was "only group play matches and they dont matter" truth is, eg and x30 are better than most people give them credit for. they arent as good as col or 3d YET, but i see can see that changing in the future
#9 It does happen and you can't deny that it doesn't. We'll see how far EG can make it; what bothers me though, is that people are trying to compare players, teams. Nobody on EG can be compared to anybody on Fnatic/VP. They got lucky, it's tough to instantly adapt to a random play style/strat.
Oh and I never said they didn't deserve the win, they won, but I still think it's a fluke.
#15 obviously thats not true if they lost to em. evo and nothing are both easily compairable to the skill levels of VP and fnatic, and in VPs case i would say they are better
I'll admit that I did not expect this. If EG can somehow win Kode5, it would really boost the American scene and hopefully stir up more competition. Remeber EG finished 5/6th in CEVO-P this season. I'd like to seee MoB, iniquity, i95, and x3o at big events, too.
ya like #19 said. basically EG was playing the "if you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen" strats, and VP and fnatic could not cope with the change from the slower pace that they are used to, so it was not a "fluke." eg simply played to their strengths and outplayed their oponents
Yea I'll say it again. virtus sucks on lan, they've only won 1 lan that had 1 or 2 _decent_ (not GREAT, not GOOD, _DECENT_) teams in attendance. All the others were just intra-russian lans full of people + teams nobody outside of russia has heard of/cares about.
DSN is better than anyone on EG Forest is better than anyone on EG Ins is better than Che/steno/Ninespot and maybe evo Archi is better than evo/Steno/Che/Ninespot Carn is better than anyone on EG
Lex is better then anyone on EG Edward is better than anyone on EG Zues is pretty much better than anyoen on EG, he has better aim, might be tie with n0thing. Sally is better than anyone on EG ROMJke is better than anyone on EG
...just my opinion though. So everyone else might not agree.
#23 are you lost? at a certain level, individual skill has very little importance. it's all about teamwork and the luck of the draw. and just because fnatic has more international experience doesn't mean they're individually better than everyone on EG. just means EG has been playing catch-up for a while and finally have done it, consistently beating the top teams in the world when they've been given their chances. (Beating PGS, and now fnatic + virtus pro)
like i've been saying for a while, EG can and definitely will continue to compete with the best teams in the world so long as they keep attending tournaments.
#15 the way you compare EG.usa to a cal-open team and Fnatic to a cal-i team is ridiculous. The skill gap is not THAT huge, cs is almost an any given sunday game. I'm not trying to be an EG.usa fanboy here because I didn't expect them to win (like most of us).
And I remember a CAL-O team facing a CAL-I team...Big Al anybody?
thats not a hillary quote. it has been around a long time. if you think it is a hillary quote you need to get out more :) it has been used quite a lot in sports, when talking about very aggressive teams
I'm not trying to argue, I was just giving my opinion on why they won, and I think it's because the international teams aren't use to the type of strats/play styles they bring. That's all.
EG over fnatic + Virtus.pro
shocking
didn't expect that
gl EG in group A, they wont get out of it, gotfrag threads lol.
