EG.usa did well during group stages, but the next day got destroyed by SK. 3D used to do extremely well at one of the event days and then completely suck the next day. Is EG.usa the next 3D?
kinda bad generalization. game has too many random factors to it, as does team chemistry. 3d was the first of its kind in the NA scene. any team can win on any given day. but we all know some of the people on the current EG are emo, especially evolution when he plays online
Sure we didn't win them all with 3D (no team since that one SK can), but we were capable of winning almost any event we ever attended (blocking out CPL Spain from memory). Every team has their ups and downs, we had some legendary games in some of the most exciting matches I've ever seen, and we also have our fair share of championships on the world's biggest e-sports stages.
#21 Truth is 3D was a great team, I don't think anyone would doubt that. But no one would consider 3D one of the best teams in the world over the past 6 years. Don't get me wrong either, I was the biggest supporter of 3D . 3D failed to produce at numerous CPL's. They didn't place inside the top 5 at any of them after summer CPL 2003, which is very unfortunate.
EYE/fnatic/team9(esu.swe)/SK/PGS(MYM)/NoA... were all much more dominant and for longer times than 3D was as much as I wouldn't like to admit it. I just wonder what kind of success 3D would have had if moto and ksharp would have played together in the later years. On the american front 3D was always top 3 for as long as they were alive, but internationally that was only the case for the latter end of 2002 and the latter part of 2003 (see clikarena). It amazed me how well they would play at some events only to flop a month later (WCG 2003/CPL winter 2003 or WCG 2004/CPL winter 2004 or ESWC 2006/ISC 2006 or WSVG world finals 2006/CPL winter 2006).
At 3D's best they were probably almost unbeatable, but they could never maintain that greatness.
Worst thing is you and jason lake singlehandedly set 1.6 back competitively in USA by probably 5 years. No one would care for CGS if 3D and coL were not involved. The american 1.6 scene could have done without rival/pandemic or even JMC, but definitely not 3D and coL.
