Hi, i have a problem , if i use 100 hz i see that famous tearing effect, but if i turn vsync on i dont see it anymore, the problem is that if i use vsync when i go into a smoke i get a sudden fps drop to 50 (from 100) while if i dont use it it doesnt drop that much, at least not that much (like 60 or something like that), Should i get used to this fps drop now ? or should i get used to the tearing effect without fps droping.. Also: Triple buffering is enabled Also2: Dont say "get better comp or something like that" because its fine for me.
edit: my res is 800 x 600, monitor : Compaq mv740 (so it supports 100hz at that res)

heh.. yet you're here.
If you don't want tearing, vsync needs to be on. Unfortunately it takes up a lot of GPU power, so if you're lagging, you either need to switch to a lower res, or.. upgrade your computer.
All of these idiots who say its your computer have no idea what they are talking about. The problem is that you cant use 100hz and have 100 fps in CS. You have to use something above 100 when you have 100 fps or your game will have tearing. vsync is the reason your fps go to 50 in a few smokes. You either have you use something higher than 100hz or turn on vsync. I get fps drops in like 6 smokes also with my pc w/ vsync on. You just have to live with it if you REALLY want to use 100hz. If not change it.
most new crt monitors can do at least 120hz @ 800x600. I use that now and it will fix the tearing. lowing fps to around 80 @ 100hz will do the trick as well. otherwise you want 100 fps @ 100hz with triple buffering enabled which helps fps.
