Don't worry, the world will come to an end shortly if we don't do anything, as depressing a thought as that is :(.

The polar ice caps keep melting completely or are drifting towards Newfoundland. This leaves little to no territory for the Polar Bear, so when they try to swim out to a bigger piece of land, they just drown.

Because the Polar Bear is becoming extinct, they're not able to eat and kill seals. There is an overpopulation of seals which are killing all the fish, including all the excessive amount of fishing that's contributing to that as well.

People are trying to club seals but not for sport, just for the sake of the fish. Of course, PETA being the brain-dead extremists they are, and other animal rights groups, are blowing up the seal clubber ships, and killing people aboard (because PETA thinks animal lives are more useful than those human lives).

The world is running out of fresh water and Canada has one of the, if not THE biggest fresh water reserve. Therefore we'll (I live in Canada) most likely get taken over by United States, and since everyone hates the United States, it gives enemy countries even more land to bomb if a World War breaks out (seemingly inevitable). Or if a war breaks out in general because they want to attempt to own the fresh water (think of the oil in Iraq).

All the frogs are dying due to a fungus which gets on their skin and suffocates them. If you didn't know, frogs breathe through their skin. However, for some odd reason, it's happening everywhere but in Madagascar and they're trying to find out why.

The bees are dying out as well, and other great pollinators. There is a beetle (forgot the actual name) in Western Canada that is killing all the giant trees. They shouldn't even be able to live there, but it has gotten so hot that they're now able to. I think they die right away, but there are so many, and the damage is already done before they die.

Were also destroying the coral reef, one of the most useful and most beautiful things the earth has to offer.

We're cutting down trees way too fast to compare to the trees we are planting, or basically people are just clear-cutting in general.

So many animals are starting to become extinct.

The problem is that everything we use, we use in excess because that's the type of society we have evolved into to. I know everything I wrote is depressing, but I believe that we will get out of this. Every great generation has had their war, and their difficulties, it's what defines them. This is our time, and we can work to make a great positive come from this negative (I hope :D).

The cut backs in emissions that countries will make will be undone by china anyway, they put up 2 coal fired power stations a week, not even no point trying.

All these documentaries are very convincing but watch the "Swindle" or some sh|t is just as convincing they have all this evidence against global warming.

For years scientists have been predicting apocalyptic sh|t like massive earth quakes asteroids and waves or some Sh|t That will wipe out the world, that never comes.

My theory is its a scare tactic, as finite resources are becoming even more scarce and demand is increasing especially from countries like china and India even western countries will not be able to afford oil its gone from like $20 a barrel in 2002 to over $100 dollars a barrel in 2008.

What we need to do is round up a couple hundred German scientists through em in a room call it the Manhattan project 2 and get them to harness hydrogen fusion.

The reason I think its a scare tactic is both the inconvenient truth and the swindle both have all this undeniable evidence that I don't know what to believe, probably both sides exadurating.

I don't really trust any of these documentaries any more because people just take extreme views on everything, like sicko, Michael Moore makes the National health service in the UK look like the best in the world which i know is bs.

#9 what you're saying is basically humans will kill themselves eventually.

and everything is because of our brains. As I stated before science is of one mans concerns and should not be made a general truth. Regarding this we would probably still be living in the caves but at least we wouldn't stress ourselves over such things as the end of the world. I'd probably be dead by now if that happened. No wait I wouldn't have lived at all. oh well.. Does it matter? at least the earth would be a beautiful place to live.

It matters to a certain extent. Especially now since we're evolving into a much more technological age. I think our generation is going to be the middle ground between what we're living in now, and a completely futuristic society.

Humans are becoming smarter and smarter, which is great in it's own respect (personally though, I believe kids, and people in general, in North America are getting dumber and dumber). However, what happens when we know everything? That'll truly be the end of the world. A life isn't worth living unless you're striving to learn.

At the moment our lives are filled with useless habits traditions and overrated values which only ruin our life and life of earth itself. Only because we live longer and a more comfortable life doesn't mean we are any better than what we used to be 1000 years ago.

All I know is, Europe is f*cked.

Gonna be mass immigration from the continent at the end of this century when the North Atlantic Drift is no longer able to keep western Europe from freezing over, and then North America is gonna get reaaaaaal overcrowded.

#17 doubt it's possible for us to know everything. I guess you could say I believe in infinity. Even tho I'm not a very good at physics I also believe that atoms aren't the last one's in line as well. Generally speaking there is nothing you could be 100% sure about.

What are you defining as "better"?

I believe that as well, but what I'm saying is that's when the world will end. Who knows when that will be.

#21 probably used a wrong term there.

Well let my try to explain. "better" as in the sum of all human conditions, felling, qualities, etc. (even the unknown one's, for example - the conditions of human mind). While we might get better at a some sort of condition we might also get worse in other. So in a sum of all those things you don't actually get better, only better in one thing or another but you do not become better as a whole. Well it's difficult to explain I'm not very good at English especially when speaking in scientific terms so I might not make sense sometimes. Hope I did explain my views to you.

#21 Our species hasn't even managed to migrate off of the tiny little rock we were born on yet, and we still remain completely ignorant of 99.99999999999999% of the cosmos... so I don't think you need to be overly concerned with humanity achieving a state of absolute omniscient perfection any time soon.

/massiveunderstatement

Oh and btw, 'the world will end' when the universe stops expanding and begins contracting, until it there's nothing left to contract. Also, homo sapien will no doubt be long extinct by then, so it'll be someone else's problem. Cheers.

I completely agree with your statement about being ignorant about our galaxy and others as well. I mean knowing everything that the earth, and medical science, etc.. but I didn't mean it would be any time soon.

I'm talking about the earth though. If we find a sure way to not only travel, but also survive on another planet for X amount of thousands of years, then that's great!

However, the way things are going, it seems the earth itself may end more quickly than the universe, so that's what we need to focus on right now.
