it's actually playable now, but because they released it too soon and got a bad rap I don't think many will trust the later patches...but yea it's not superbad anymore, more like marginally ok.
I think i still have this email from nov 2007 from Garfield saying that any delays of more than 3 months would be completely ridiculous and that the game was near completion.

there was just too much hype that came with promod. honestly if they just developed it without telling anybody then just released it the 1.6 community would be much more responsive and a lot more helpful in making it better. however the expectations that came with it were not fulfilled and now not many people are willing to stick with it

Many of you are way too niddy gritty. The public wanted it out, and expected a game that was completley finished and playable. But no, despite Alex's mistake, people just started getting mad at something that they wanted. "It looks like source", or "It plays like source", were common rants that many people complained about.
One other thing. You guys may think that the development is slow and sometimes skeptical. But just look at what they are trying to do for the community. These guys also have lives too. They don't get any pay for cspromod, and they still have to pay for their college classes/any necesities to living.
Tell me this. If you were in Alex shoes, after all the critism and rants about promod, would you even continue the mod?
Please think of Alex as doing a favor, don't think of him as trying to destroy the cs community by just adding a few models that "look" like source.
