Problems connecting

I just got a new computer with Vista 64 Home Premium and pretty good specs. All my other games run fine, but CS is having some technical difficulties. At first, CS started to run fine, but the next day, it couldn't even run.. it started to crash right after I loaded it. After a few hours of sweating and bleeding, I fixed that problem, but now I'm "freezing" whenever I try to join a server. I start to connect, but it stops at "establishing network connection to server", and my internet is fine because I'm able to connect to other games online. This is pretty much on every server I normally play on.
I've tried re-installing a brand new CS, making a new ClientRegistry.blob, and relogging into Steam just to let you guys know.
Hopefully one of you guys dealt with my problem before, and figured out how to fix it.

It ran fine at first though, so I don't think Vista is the main problem.

I forgot to add that I have to ctrl+alt+del out of CS every time I try to join a server because it freezes.

Im having the exact same problem. CS 1.6 worked the first time on my Vista 64 Home Premium edition, but after that, it gets stuck at "establishing network connect", usually with 1 to 3 bars. So, I would have to cntrl-alt-del to stop the process under task manager. Does anyone know how to fix this, I've looked online but no luck. And please, no "uninstall Vista, and install XP", because that is not a permanent solution.

computer specs if it matters:

q6600 quad core
8gb of RAM ocz reaper edition ddr2 pc26400
ati 3870
shuttle box/motherboard sp35p2-pro
250 gb seagate barracuda 7200rpm STA drive
vista home premium edition x64

UHHHH I THINK I SEE YOUR GUYS PROBLEM.

COULD IT BE VISTA?!

My problem was fixed after removing a bunch of spyware/malware in safe mode with Avira AVS, HiJackThis, SuperAntiSpyware, and OTMoveIt. I hope this helps some people.

So to the people who think Vista is the problem: it's not.
