I've always wondered about this, but recently I'm seeing less servers, and even my favorites/history disappear.
When I open up CS 1.6 and go to server list, I see maybe 10 servers that fit my filters (Which is only a latency filter of <100). I've restarted steam, restarted the computer, bumped my IP address, reinstalled, reformatted, etc etc. Is there something else that might be holding the full list from showing? I know there are more than 10 servers that I ping less than 100 too, I've seen larger lists before.
well how long do you wait after hitting refresh servers? IF the button is still at 'stop refreshing servers' than its still getting some for the list. When I do a server search with a <100 filter it gets like 300 servers at first and then stops, with the button still saying 'stop refreshing servers' but after like 20 seconds it starts again at SUPERSPEED and I get like a bajillion servers really quickly. (well like 8,000 but same thing...)
I've had the same problem. Are you using a router? Try plugging your cad cable from your computer directly into your cable modem, and see if more servers pop up. Worked for me, my router just has some gay as firewall like thing built into it, so i was getting like 10 servers.
