First I just want to apologize if these predictions blow hardcore but this is my first time ever doing them (on any level of CS) so bare with me. I will do a beter job next week. Also since this will be the first time I have done them this season they will be a little longer and have a little more ranting by me... mainly me explaining each teams previous matches then finally getting to the prediction of the current match. Again, I am sorry for the length but next weeks will be much shorter and have better actual predictions.
Also I did not do EG vs. 50|cal because EG is at GG (Yes, I know x3o is to but I did theirs a couple days ago before I realized they would miss their match).
We all know how good x3o is but their season so far has had a lot of question marks. I mean by now we all know complexity is not yet ready to take over the 1.6 scene so it came to a surprise to me that they were able to get 12 rounds on the second best team in America (personally I think they are the best). But as I later mention in the Complexity section of my preds it seemed as if x3o gave up a lot more rounds then coL actually won. Next match was against the current #1 team in America, in EG.usa, but right from the getco nothing looked right for x3o. They ended up losing CT side 12-3 and quickly lost four rounds as Terrorists giving EG the 16-3 win. Week 2 started off against a 2-0 team in Maingear but x3o showed that those two wins were against subpar teams and their record meant nothing. I mean it was just total domination (explained more in the Maingear section). Then came Ferocity. While they ended up beating them it was much to close of a match. At one point x3o was leading 13-8 only to see Ferocity make a comeback and go up 15-14 forcing x3o to win the final round just to push it to overtime. Which they did. Overtime turned out to be not to exciting seeing as how x3o won it 6-1. This was the second match of the season for x3o where none of their players had a negative frag to death ratio while none of the opposing team players had a positive ratio… yet both matches were close.
Focal… where to begin? I don’t even know what to say about them seeing as how I don’t know how long each member has been on their roster with the exception of Demos. It seems like they have a new roster shake-up every couple of days. Obviously I don’t think a consistent roster would have helped them in their week 1 matches seeing as how they had to play Iniquity and MoB. Week 2 started off with a bye (err… Mug N’ Mouse) and concluded against PoV in which they lost 16-14.
This match probably won’t even be worth the watch. While I think focal has just been unlucky with the scheduling early on and has a worse record then what they are really capable of I don’t think they are ready for the big boys yet (as seen in their match against MoB).
Prediction: x3o > focal 16-5
Paragon Of Virtue (2-2) vs. Iniquity (4-0)
Iniquity is the surprise team of the season thus far and at the same time taking over the reigns as the new “online” team of America. I mean who are inertia and momper? I kid I kid. But yea… Their schedule has not been that tough with the exception of MoB.Gaming who of course is a great team. With that said though they have beaten all of the easy teams by fairly large margins not giving up more then five rounds to focal, 50|cal, or Mug N` Mouse. As I said before MoB gaming was the one only good team they have played so far and man, what a surprise that match was. Not only did they win 16-10 but they won the first thirteen rounds first half pretty much sealing the victory.
PoV is a team that I see a lot of people rave about for some reason. I don’t know if the kids over at Gotfrag are just kidding around or actually like this team but I don’t really see them doing anything. They didn’t seem to put up any sort of fight against EG or Maingear although to their credit they at least had the lead against Maingear for a short period of time. They then spanked Ferocity 16-6 for their week 2:1 match but does that really count? Meh. That led to a match-up of two 1-2 teams in which POV squeaked out a victory against focal 16-14.
While Iniquity is bound to cool off a little sooner or later this will not be the match. This should be a pretty convincing win for them since it’s on de_nuke and they are a bunch of fraggers who will probably take sites pretty quickly and just out aim PoV.
MoB.Gaming has been on fire as of late trying furiously to get that #1 spot in America. Not only are they tied in second in CEVO-P right now with a 3-1 record (that lone loss came to Iniquity of course) but they just recently demolished EG at the x3o finals. Their roster along with x3o’s has the most experience out of anyone in CEVO-P and should help them continue their hot streak.
Mug N’ Mouse is more or less a free win from what I have seen. I know it’s very early in the season and anything can change but they just have been playing terribly. Everything has gone downhill and fast for the team from Texas (or at least was) after their first match against Maingear in which they had the lead 14-6 and coughed it up. In fact they have not won more then 8 rounds in their three matches after that (That is less then what Maingear had to win in a row just to win the match). And they have not had to play the hardest schedule. So while I am not saying things can change it just does not look like it will be any time soon.
MoB will most likely come prepared to this match while I don’t even know how much mNm has actually been playing. Even if they have been practicing I don’t see anyway they can beat one of the hottest teams.
Prediction: MoB.Gaming > Mug N’ Mouse 16-2
Complexity (1-3) vs. Maingear eSports (3-1)
Complexity has been quite puzzling this season so far. I know we were all hoping they would come back as their old selves but did we really think that would happen? With that said though I don’t know what to think of them right now. Are they are the verge of taking over the N/A scene or are they just teasing us. I mean take their week 1:1 match against x3o for instance… Losing 16-12 to the second best team in N/A after not playing 1.6 for a year+… pretty good in my opinion. However, when you take a closer look at the match you can see that x3o as a team had a +26 frag to death ratio as coL sported an ugly -27. How does that work? I mean everyone on x3o had a positive ratio when frod was the only one to go positive for coL. Maybe it was more x3o losing rounds then coL actually winning them. In their next match they pretty much man handled a pretty decent team in Devastation 16-4. Even though I thought they would beat them I didn’t think it would be by that much especially after losing the first three rounds. Week 2 started off against 50|cal which I thought would be another win but it did not turn out that way. Complexity started off strong winning nine of the first twelve rounds (even though they did get eco’d second round) but seemed to collapse from there. They finished off the half at 10-5 and only managed to get one round in the second half losing the match 16-11. Again, Frod was the only one with a positive frag to death ratio. Week 2:2 proved to be a tough match-up against the current #1 team in N/A. After losing 12-3 first half coL could not catch any momentum and ended up losing 16-8. Again, Frod being the only one with a positive frag to death ratio.
Maingear is one of the teams in CEVO-P that I don’t know much about except for that fact that PredatoR is a huge dou-che and has yet to go positive in a match this season. When I looked at the standings I didn’t really know how this team could be 3-1 until I saw who they have played. They played a team in mNm (who is now 0-4) who actually had a lead of 14-6 in the match until they completely blew it and lost the next ten rounds which is still impressive on Maingear’s part (even if mNm did blow the match). Next up was another mediocre team in PoV in which the only real question was if Hero would hop to another team before the match (double checking… nah he is still there). PoV did however get off to a decent start winning the first four rounds before Maingear decided to start fragging. They took off and won the next nine rounds and finished off the half 10-5 before winning second half 6-1 giving them the 16-6 victory. Maingear finally had the chance in week 2 to show that they were ready to compete with the best when they faced off against x3o but that was put to rest after the fourth round of the first half. x3o was up 3-1 at that point and did not look back winning the remanding rounds stomping them 16-1. Not one player on Maingear had more then 7 frags while Impulsive actually outfragged all of maingears team with 32 frags to their 24… yikes. Their next match was against DEV in what turned out to be a really good match. Both teams had to battle back at some point in the match but Maingear finally turned out to be too much. Winning 21-17 in overtime… no thanks to PredatoR who finished -15. But to his credit I was wrong before in that he did finish with a +3 frag to death ratio against PoV.
Complexity has faced four teams with a combined 9-5 record while losing only four more rounds then they have won while Maingear has faced four teams with a combined record of 6-9 while still having lost more rounds then won (49-51). Even though Complexity has the opposite record of that of Maingear I still think they should win this match IF someone besides Frod can step up and frag. Because even though Maingear does not nearly have the same kind of skill that coL represents Nuke is a very team oriented map and I just don’t know how much coL has had time to practice on it. I don’t doubt they will be able to run over them as T’s but CT side will be the real question. If they can hold their spots or actually communicate and take the site back together as CT’s I don’t see them losing this match. If that does not happen though I could see Maingear maybe pulling off an upset but that would mean everyone would need to frag on their team and well.. good luck with that. Yea yea I know I said people on coL have not been fragging either but at least when they don’t they still have close matches.
Prediction: complexity > maingear 16-10
Devastation (2-2) vs. Ferocity (1-3)
I always enjoyed watching All Your Base back when they were in CEVO-SP (pretty sure four of the members were from that team) so there may be a little bias here. This team could have a few different records at this point. They could either be 1-3 or 3-1 but instead are 2-2. In both their overtime matches they had to either win both the 14th and 15th round or just the 15th round to force overtime. And unlike their match against EG, in which they won, they ended up losing to Maingear in overtime. However the theme of comebacks started in week 1:1 against 50|cal in which they were down 9-2 at one point before winning out the half and pretty much dominated second half winning 16-11. Week 1:2 was not so kind to them though with their match-up against Complexity. They took an early 3-0 lead against them but instead saw Complexity comeback and take the match 16-4.
I know next to nothing about Ferocity except for the fact that BGZ only wishes he could have my alias instead of that ugly looking Z. Um they lost to two really good teams, lost to a mediocre team, and beat the worst team in CEVO-P. Noice.
DEV should win this match as long as they are down early and can and have everyone frag after I don’t know... lets say the 6th round. Prediction: Devastation > Ferocity 16-8
Yea, I didn't even realize how much it was until I posted it.. haha. I am a pretty quick typer so it really did not feel like that much. Again, my next one will be much shorter since I won't really be summarizing the season again :)
#4 Oh this was much harder ;)
#6 I know that was also one of the main reasons I decided to kind of recap the season thus far. Most of the matches are pretty poor so I wanted to add a little bit to it.
Rift unless we have the same exact schedule I don't see why on earth you would say something like that. I hardly post on these forums (made most of my posts in the early days) with the exception of my own threads and for some reason you always seem to be responding to them.
When I have free time I like to actually do something with it and not just sit on the forums being massively g4y with all your GF buddies.
Good predictions, like you said, a bit long but good. Looking forward to your next set of predictions. Start giving PTW, I always enjoy seeing if people can call which player will have an explosive game if any.
POV is one of the top teams on lan...and i know this is online, but seriously when it all boils down to it, the money is on LAN...and most teams get respect built on lan over online no matter how much people say "ONLINE match ONLINE PLAY" i mean seriously....they POV walked over teams at x3o and put up a good fight losing a close match on train to EG.usa...
#21 I understand where you are coming from but teams like EG and MoB gaming have proven themselves over time. While PoV did lose to EG in the finals at x3o quali 3 there were no real good teams that attended that one besides EG and maybe focaL. They again did pretty well at quali 4 but I still want to see more from them.
Maybe after a couple more weeks in CEVO or lan events I will have a different view on them but right now I just see a team that is in the middle of the pack. While online is not that important in peoples eyes it's hard to determine how good a team is based on a lan event or two... hence why most of my things were based on what has happened in CEVO.
I mean if they can come close to beating EG (maybe they did.. I didn't really follow to much of x3o since I was not around and I can't find any coverage on it) then I don't see why they would lose 16-5 to them in CEVO. I mean its not like EG cares about online that much :).
CEVO-P 3:1
Also I did not do EG vs. 50|cal because EG is at GG (Yes, I know x3o is to but I did theirs a couple days ago before I realized they would miss their match).
