my more experienced friend offered me a spot on their team for next season but i've only been playing 1 year--- what spots/angles/nades should i play so i can get good by the time next season rolls around
I hate to say it but try getting esportsea.com for like a month and see how you like the scrimming atmosphere. ESEA servers blow and people bait a lot, but you might need it
watch demos of top euro teams. Especially old NoA, 2005 SK, NiP, mTw.dk, coL, and 3D learn how they play the spots you play and watch their setups rotations retakes nades flashes and bettr yourself. But you'll only become better through experience. Meaning you have to die a lot and learn from your mistakes.
Don't watch any demos. Learn the game yourself and develop your own style of play. Just Deathmatch a lot and scrim a lot. So basically.. play a lot. That's really the only way to get better.
We'll if its cal-o, then I see what #13 is saying, Just have to out aim your opponents.
But when you get into the higher level leagues, strats is what wins you the game, since most people in the higher level of cs having pretty good aim, strats will carry them far, as long as they execute those strats...
But like mostly everyone else said if you just watch matches, maybe you AND your team could pick up a few tips or strats that could be used for the next season, But I will suggest watching some of the vids here.
#14 he need to watch demos to learns spots an angles in that time he has only 6 mounths to be good at the game dont try to copy the movement of pro players, try to understand how they do it and why they are doing it
How about posting something he can understand.. But I will try to clarify on what #19 "tried" to say...
* He means to play on the CAL maps and learn the spam spots... What area's to shoot through, and when to do it.
* Play a lot of pick up games to get used to different strats and postitions either defensive or offensive
* Ask your future team to let you play with them or scrim, you will learn a lot.
* Just watch demos of other matches, you can pick up on the small things which can be used during match play.
* Become familiar with sounds, Your ears will be your biggest tool in a CS match, learning to walk or being able to hear and know exactly where the enemy is is a key factor to winning matches, so make sure you learn it..
how do i get good by january
And you won't be able to get "good" by then by just having people tell you what to do, You need to learn from experience.
Have you and your friends clan find a pick up game and then you can scrim with them, but also learn what to do on each map and how to do it etc...
just play csdm 16 hours a day. you will still be clueless about how to play in an actual match but at least you might have some aim
Deathmatch vs bots
Watch loads of demos of fodder, pondfiller and n0thing.

pretty much don't be stupid and let them make mistakes, and you wont lose.
