I just used it and it works 100% better than the built in steam defrag bullsht. The past few months with all the steam updates, it has taken me forever to load up steam. Some of my friends have the same problem and some of them don't. So I guess its a hit and miss. If you google this problem many threads of people come up so I hope this helps them out. try it out guys see what you think..
it worked for me brainkiller, i wouldn't post bullsht here, I am a selected few who like to help out a situation if a problem is expressed. This was a problem for me, I googled it...found out that many other people were having this problem and happened to find Bacender's youtube fix.

"The Steam defragging utility is broken. It will report full optimization, even though a large number of fragmented files remain in the GCF. The method that i explain in this video does a full defrag that does not skip on any files"
That will explain what HLExtract.exe does. The batch file states that any file that contains "F" in all files that end in ".gcf" should have HLExtract run. I don't even need to try this to back up my statement.

it's never taken me more than 5 seconds to load cs, and my computer isn't even that good.
